Do you have faith... (1 Viewer)

Boston

Footballguy
After months of speculation and rumors the draft is here. It all becomes black and white tommorrow. Gms, coaches and execs from around the league will be making picks and wheelin' and dealin'. So, my question is...

Do you have faith the front office of the team you root for will execute in a positive manner? Will the team be better both short term and long term after the dust settles on Sunday?

I know as a Pats fan I have 100% blind faith that BB/Pioli will be on their game. They're not perfect but overall they have been getting it done in a very positive manner in recent drafts (even if they pick players no one knows). I have zero doubts that the Pats will be a better team when this meat market is complete.

How about your team?

My hometown team is the Patriots, so I am right with you in believing in BB/Pioli for years to come.

As a Dallas fan, yes. They've had some solid drafts recently, no reason not to get an above average draft this year as well.

As a native Detroiter......no way in hell do I have any faith in the Ford's and Matt Millen. He's a disaster.

Not when it comes to receivers...

and yet, every one and their dog has Denver taking a receiver. :(

Detroit - no

Carolina - somewhat

The difference I think between the two is that Carolina has a team identity and Detroit doesn't. Hopefully Marinelli can bring that but I think Millen is just over his head too badly for it to really take hold.

Home team---- Bidwells :X :X Denny did get us Fitz and Adrian Wilson so some hope.

Hometown Team---- Ziggy and his new regime. It can't get any more comical than Mike Tice and his band of idiots, can it?

When Levy took the GM job I was ecstatic. When Mularkey stepped down things looked great. The off-season hasn't been great, making some small moves. I like the Reyes signing and I have a bit more faith in Price than most do. He did well in Buffalo and going to Atlanta and not having much room in Dallas for time, Buffalo is a good place for him. They have the speed on the field with Evans and Price. I'm hoping they make some smart picks. I'm pretty high on Huff and would love to see Ferguson fall to #8. I'm not so sure about Ngata and know Jauron would like to move up a few spots to land someone like Ferguson but Levy doesn't feel the same way. It's his first time as a GM and the guy has done great things for Buffalo, I hope he has a plan. After last season and this off-season I'm not too excited about the upcoming season. Hopefully we make a big splash in the draft this weekend.

I believe that the term "front office" was done away with and replaced by "His Royale Courte".

And to answer your question, no.

:goodposting: That's pretty much how I feel as well. I'm not pessimistic like I would be if Tom Donahoe was still the GM, and I love Levy, but then again I'm not so sure that I can say that I have complete faith in a 400 year old rookie GM.

I agree with ya Boston.

You Detroit fans, I'm interested in Millen+the draft. Will the new guys override him in a "we;ve been there" sorta way? Will their be bickerring? I think Matt's gotta have an open mind to change(in how they do things) for that franchise to succeed. That should be interesting.

In Savage and Crennel I believe.
:goodposting:
How is the relationship with the owners and Savage? There are rumors of him maybe being interested in the AD job at Iowa b/c of his friendship with Ferentz. I had thought there was a rift between Savage and someone else. Is that someone else gone?

In Bill We Trust
Please let their be more than one GM named Bill. You never fn know with Polian. And yes he has made some great moves. But after passing on D to draft Clark, I trust him as far as I can throw his chubby butt.

As a Rams homer, I don't. The front office was so dysfunctional with Mad Mike at the helm of the team that I have to see them funtion well before I have faith in them again.

On a smaller note, I have more faith in their drafting ability now that Mad Mike isn't making the calls (Trung, Jacoby Shephard, Eric Crouch?!?!)

I think Millen has got to decide the identity of his football team and then make it happen. He can't listen to the Ford's or the media. He and Marinelli need to be thinking as one.

In Fran Foley, not yet. All he has proven is that he can lie on his bio. He's looking for "Character guys". :potkettle:

Because we have Scott Studwell for the upcoming draft, yes. I think he is very good at college scouting!

I have mixed feelings about Accorsi. He has not done well in the top of the draft and the trade for Eli was not good. I like Eli, but Accorsi gave up way too much and would have been much better off had he drafted Roethlisberger, like many expected if he didn't trade for Eli, along with keeping all of those other draft picks, one of which was Merriman. On the other hand, he has done pretty well as far as signing free agents and the team as a whole is a playoff team. So, while I think he could have done a better/smarter job, it's hard to complain when your team is a playoff team.

Big time faith in Shack and Jack for the Jaguars. Shack Harris is all about strength of roster and for a small market team with attendance issues that's a big deal.

Now I do. Now that Marvin is charge. I don't even want to speak of the dark ages before His arrival.

I have complete faith in A.J. Smith.

Last year he grabbed the defensive Rookie of the Year Shawne Merriman with the 12th pick and added Luis Castillo, Vincent Jackson, and Darren Sproles.

The previous year he drafted five starters (including one in the 7th round) and two solid backups.

I don't blame A.J for 2003, as Butler died abot ten days prior to the draft.

Say what you will...

I have a lot of faith in the niners Front office. I like the direction they are taking this team in rebuilding this great franchise.
