So sorry. :( It's so hard on the family, which sometimes gets missed as the focus is on the pt.My sister died from inoperable lung cancer. After several rounds of chemo, she complained about shoulder pain. I was in his office with her when he told her "its probably just bursitis, you need to focus on getting well". False hope is not helpful. Needless to say that was the last visit to THAT moron.
A friend was diagnosed with a brain tumor & the doctor told him he had less than a month to live. He died 3 weeks later but at least he & his family had time to say goodbye & get things in order. Sure glad the doc had cajones.
I have more stories like this that I wont go into.
This is a fear I have with every ache and pain. We are told that if it isn't gone in 2-3 weeks to go in. Don't downplay it. Risks are too high. It's never too soon to become empowered with knowledge. The worst case is you are smarter about cancer than before.
