I have read the Dodds Prefect Draft for 10 teams and I have a question. He recommends a top 50 list be used which uses the VBD rank if it is higher than the ADP. If the ADP is higher, then the VBD rank and ADP are averaged. This seems to dilute my VBD projections and causes me to lose projected points.
Let's say I have RB-A with a VBD of 40, ranked 10, and an ADP rank of 20. I also have RB-B with a VBD of 30, rank of 12 and ADP rank of 11. I am just picking random numbers for sake of math, so don't argue the numbers. Dodds says I should have a combined rank of 15 (avg 10+20) for RB-A and a combined rank of 12. So I should pick RB-B before RB-A, even though the projections are expecting RB-A to score 10 more points.
Am I understanding this right? It seems to be diluting my projections and possible VBD values. I think the ADP averaging may be trying to get value, but I would prefer the most points based on projections. Don't I?
