Dodge Challenger - thinking of buying one. Thoughts? (1 Viewer)

I'm in the market for a mid range sports car. I'm not in quite Vette or Chet territory, but I do have the means to add another toy to the garage.

I REALLY like the look of the "new" Challengers. I think I'm going to test drive one this weekend. This won't be a daily driver. I'll probably clock 15-20 miles a month until summer when I'm sure I'll take it out on weekends.

Do any of you own one ? Thoughts on options/best model year/engines ?

I'm the type that needs to become a borderline expert on every single model, weighing every exhaustible option before making a purchase and I'm just learning.

Two cons so far -

weight is. >4k lbs

It's a Dodge.

I sued Chrysler on behalf of a client whose Challenger would randomly lose the ability the accelerate, usually while turning left.

It was the 2009, I believe.

We were considering it when we bought last year but I'm almost 50 and just thought I'm a little old for it. I've driven most of the new muscle cars as rentals and loved the Challenger, although the Mustang was close. Camaro was crap, imo.

OP are you a middle-aged white guy?

Then yes, this car is perfect for you. Be sure to get it in hot throbbing red and keep a broom in the back seat to sweep away all the hot twentysomething ### throwing themselves at you.

:shuked: I'm assuming this is from another thread?

If not, I'm 36 and I want a fun car to drive. Pretty safe to assume I've never gotten laid because of the vehicle I drove.

My buddy has one. It's a massive car both in size and weight, but does have enough power to overcome it. I'm a fan of agile, quick cars so it's not for me, but he really likes it. It definitely is the current standard in American muscle cars, but this year's Mustang is right up there too (saw it at the Detroit Auto Show).

I don't own one but I prefer the look of the Challenger to the Charger. Someone up thread mentioned women in their 20's. I can confirm one that likes the Challenger for the retro look.

You ever owned a Challenger?

every time I see one of these on the road, I can't help but think of THE Challenger movie. Vanishing Point.
