I would be shocked if anyone actually wants the Jets to win. It would ruin what potentially could be the most epic, high-scoring Super Bowl of all time.

We have the possibility of the two best quarterbacks in the league this year (Manning, Brees) duking it out. Or the possibility of two of the best quarterbacks of all time (Manning, Favre) duking it out in a high scoring, fun to watch Super Bowl.

A Jets win would spoil so many glorious Super Bowl possibilities.

No one wants to watch a defense first, 13-7 type of Super Bowl game.

People would be asleep by the second half.

We need the Colts to win Sunday.

Am I way off here?

I'm most definitely rooting for the Jets. Not because I'm a Jets fan but because the crap Indy pulled in week 16 was embarrassing. Only fitting that they get knocked out by the team they let in by rolling over.

I'm pulling for the Jets because I'm not a big fan of Indy's head coach.
I'm definitely pulling for the Jets...karma is a #####, especially when you let an undeserving team into the playoffs and they start knocking off heavy weights.Do I think the Jets will win? Nope, but I like that they play some serious D and pound the rock and I have a feeling that Sanchez is either going to win or lose the game with one pivotal play. If he wins, his stock will soar and the NY media and ESPN will build the Super Bowl up as the old guard vs. the new guard at QB in the NFL. Sanchez vs. Brees/Favre is all you will hear about for 2 week if that happens.

id like to see them win. Be nice to see a strong defense run first team win in todays NFL

Absolutely rooting for the Jets. When you've spent your life rooting for an underdog, you root for other underdogs too.

And actually, I don't think the Super Bowl would be terribly boring. The Jets/Saints matchup earlier this season was pretty intense for 3 quarters.

I'll be rooting with all my heart for a Jets win.

Sanchez would be the first rookie QB to win 3 playoff games.

He'd also set the Jets franchise record for playoff wins.

You know what makes it hard to root for the Jets?... Jets fans.

Now that I think of it, is there a division with more annoying fans than the AFC East?

definitely rooting for the Jets after watching the Colts lay down in the final weeks of the season and not caring about fans or shutting up the '72 dolphins.

I'm rooting for the Jets. Who doesn't love an underdog?
lol. I love an underdog, but hate boring Super Bowls.
Granted I'm a Jets fan but, IMO, there's nothing more excting than the underdog beating all the odds...The Giants beating the Unbeatable Pats was the best SuperBowl I've ever seen by far.The majority of SuperBowls are boring so, there's no guarantee which SB will be the most exciting... But, I think the big Underdog gives you the chance for the most possible excitment.....And heck, As Football fans DEFENSE - Especially if a D can contain one of these great offenses left - and Pounding the ball is damn exciting to me... Plus If I'm not a Jets fan - The chances of a Rookie QB melting and throwing a Few Pick 6's is pretty exciting as is the chance he steps up and puts some points on the board...But, If Sanchez is left holding the SB trophy in the end - Oh My, what a story for the ages.I'm sure at that point the World Declares the Jets the new "Worst Team ever to Win a Super Bowl" and unlike Pats fans in 2001 that rebelled against that label which got them another label around here.. I'd say Jets fans would embrace it....

If you like good defense, then the Jets are exciting, and what's more, the playoffs are showing that you can count on them to continue exciting you with great D as we go along.

If you like good offense, then the Colts are exciting because they have Manning. But the problem is, Manning has proven over the last decade that you can't really count on him to continue to be exciting during the playoffs. When the Colts win in the playoffs, they mostly do it with defense. Except their D isn't as exciting as the Jets.

The upshot of it all is I think there's plenty of evidence that a Jets SB would be exciting. Whereas a Colts one would probably be a snoozefest.

My reasons are the same as yours, but my conclusions are different.

I want the Jets to win (no homer). The Colts aren't really that exciting to watch. Also watching Manning spasm-ing and hopping around in the pocket like the floor is lava annoys me.

2006 AFC Championship wasn't exciting? How about 2003's Colts vs. Chiefs game with no punts? It really depends on the opponent - the Colts may be more boring against defensive-minded teams with run-based offenses (Ravens, 2006's Chiefs, Bears) - but the Saints certainly dont' fit that bill, and the Vikings don't resemble the Ravens or Jets.

Coming from a NFC East/Eagles fan, that's rich.Seriously, how can you get on fans of a team which hasn't done a damned thing FINALLY having something to cheer for?

:goodposting: Knowledgeable football fans know that a low scoring game with a good defense can be exciting.

It doesn't have to be a 53-45 final to be a fun game to watch.

Great defense is just as entertaining as great offense to me. Bad offense is just as boring as bad defense. The Cardinals-Packers game was interesting since it was actually close at the end but the game itself was actually a bit boring since the offenses didn't have much opposition. In fact 90% of this postseason has been boring since only one side of the ball usually showed up.

The hope is that the Jets D and the Colts O are at the top of their respective games and we get to watch a Bucs-Rams type game when the Greatest Show on Turf was challenged like never before.

really?you think Cowboys, Giants, and Redskins fans are better?Bills fans never hurt anybody.

I'd love to see the Jets eliminate the Colts and the Bengals after those 2 teams opened the playoff door for them. I don't want to see Indy in the Super Bowl after they tanked their last 2 regular season games and ended their own bid at a perfect season.

Good defense is fun to watch. Really, if you don't think so, and all you like are high-scoring games, then you probably aren't much of a football fan.

I would watch either way. I'm saying a game like the Cardinals v Packers on wildcard weekend was tremendously more enjoyable to watch than the Jets v Bengals. And that's why I prefer to have a high scoring Super Bowl.I love the Jets defense. And I've enjoyed their run. But a Vikings/Saints vs Colts super bowl has epic potential.

Giants-Patriots was one of the best Super Bowls ever imo.
The Giants also had a very good QB who was playing well; the Jets have a rookie QB who you are watching and thinking he could screw it up at any minute. Not quite the same. Anyway, the fan in me who felt cheated when the Colts tanked on their chance at going undefeated wants to see the Jets win. But the fan in me who wants to see a potentially great Super Bowl, featuring two truly GREAT QBs, wants to see the Colts win.I suspect that once the game starts, the latter fan will kick in, and I will be rooting for Indy.

Manning deserves another shot at a championship.
:lmao: Why does he "deserve" another shot?
You can't let him stay tied with his worthless brother.
To me Peyton is turning out to be the best QB ever and he could use another Super Bowl win to solidify that statement.
He could be the best regular season QB ever, but he's been quite underwhelming in 16 career playoff games. His playoff rating is a full 10 points below his regular season rating and in his Super Bowl run he tossed 3 TDs against 7 interceptions. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the most interceptions thrown in the postseason by a Super Bowl champion.

I would assume that most QBs have a better regular season rating than postseason rating simply because they are facing a weaker schedule in the regular season.

Maybe the teams he faces are better?

I'm rooting for the Jets because I think the Jets beating the Colts (after the Colts let them waltz into the playoffs) would be a bigger and more interesting story than whatever Super Bowl matchup comes after a Colts win.

Can you imagine the sound bytes and quotes from both teams if this happens...it would be awe inspiring.

I am not trying to start a fight with anyone, but I really don't understand why certain people are as upset about the Colts choosing to rest instead of going for perfection.... I understand if you had a horse in the race like a Steelers fan or a Texan fan, I understand if you are a Colts fan and wanted meaningless barroom bragging rights, I can even sort of understand if you are Patriots fan and had it rubbed in your face that the true reason to play the game was a SuperBowl ring instead of a banner advertising failure. I just don't understand it from anyone else. The closest I can come is that these people found it sacrilegious, but if that was the case they would be football purist and know the real goal of a NFL team. :goodposting:

If you want to take your chances on this week's game being the once-or-twice per decade that turns out to be an exciting Colt playoff game, go for it. I'll be rooting for the Jets. They've been non-stop entertaining to me for the last several weeks, and I see no reason to expect the trend to come to a halt now.

As a Pats fan, rooting for either the Jets or the Colts is like picking between getting punched in the face or kicked in the balls. I'll choose punched in the face and root for the Jets. I like Rex Ryan's chutzpah.

When the Colts didn't go for the perfect record and cost me around $400 at the same time, they were dead to me from that moment on...

J-E-T-S, JETS JETS JETS! :loco:

Sanchise is representing the Pac10 so I'm not necessarily rooting against the Jets...Colts would be more entertaining for the SuperBowl though.

No.

Colts vs one of the two remaining NFC teams should make for a great Super Bowl and ensure that 2 of the best teams of '09 will meet.

Peyton Manning shouldn't be compared to most QBs; he should be compared to the pantheon of great QBs with his amount of post-season experience. As such,Brett Favre's postseason rating is a point better than his regular seasonKurt Warner's is 9 points betterJoe Montana's is 3 points betterSteve Young's is 11 points worseTom Brady's is 8 points worseJohn Elway's is the sameDan Marino's is 9 points worseLooks like it just depends on the guy.I do think it's worth noting his 7 interceptions are often overlooked in that Super Bowl run. The defense deserves a lot more credit for the Colts' victory than they ever get.

So the Jets definitely don't match the Colts for PPG or YPG but they do have the #1 rushing offense, so you can't just say they are an inept, boring team on offense. And while Peyton throws for a ton of yards, the Colts were dead last in rushing offense during the regular season. I think everyone would agree that Chris Johnson is an exciting player but the Jets don't have a guy like this. Yet they still outrushed the Titans and every other team in the league. I respect that and they would definitely provide an intriguing matchup with the Vikings or Saints in the Superbowl.

I think most people realize that Bob Sanders was the guy most responsible for that victory. Team went from being the worst run defense in the league during the regular season to a brick wall and Sanders was the key.

Looks like it just depends on the guy.

As does Brady's.
