QB Grossman Gets Chance At Redemption

Brad Briggs, Chicago Sun Times - [Full Article]

Bears HC Lovie Smith said he was going to treat the exhibition against the San Diego Chargers tonight as a "regular game." So expect a legitimate challenge for QB Rex Grossman, who is out to prove his dreadful outing at San Francisco was not a sign the organization has ignored the obvious -- that a QB competition with Brian Griese was needed all along. "I'm looking for a lot better execution, a lot better play," Turner said. "Everyone's focusing on Rex, but also from everybody else."

I found this interesting .....

Bears | Angelo admits to competition at quarterback

Published Thu Aug 17 11:23:00 p.m. ET 2006

(KFFL) Don Pierson, of the Chicago Tribune, reports Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo admitted to competition at the quarterback position between QBs Rex Grossman and Brian Griese. Angelo said, "Grossman picked a bad time to lay an egg. To me, he was pressing. Griese comes in and looks like his dad (Hall of Famer Bob). To me, most quarterback controversies tell you you really don't have one (quarterback). In this case, we feel real good about our quarterbacks, and there's competition. People were always crying, `They don't want to create competition for Grossman.' And I've always said that's not the case. We just had to bring the right guy in here who understands the dynamic and is willing to compete. Griese did, and that's what he's doing."

Impact: Smith needs to keep answering the question as long as Grossman is being outplayed by Brian Griese. Grossman started hot but the game ended with resounding chants of "Griese! Griese!" from Chicago fans.

Just keep reposting this one verey three days or so. It'll sadly but eventually pan out... would love to see what Grossman could do if he were healthy for the entire year.
