Trent Green is one of the most consistently disrespected and underrated QBs in the league.Do you even watch the Chiefs play or do you just try to think up clever one-liners and post them?Yes, TG will be the starting QB when he's healthy. Edwards already iterated that several times.Yeah, it's a shame, but Green will probably be the starter when he's healthy again. And the Chiefs' play-off hopes will end accordingly.
Their problems have been their defense in past years, but one thing about Trent Green is that he always starts the season off slow. It happens every year. This is midseason now, and the Chiefs can't afford for Green to start out slow. It's hard to believe he can't be rusty right now, but I guess the Chiefs are going to find out soon enough.Green seemed anxious to play but having been out that's expected. The Chiefs seem more laid back about it saying he may play in week 10. I think Huard affords them the time to wait til they're certain Green's ready. I have Green and I expect Huard this week. IMO Their problem in past playoffs was defense not Trent.
Dude, you really need to learn how not to be an abrasive ########. I posted my own opinion and you came back with some little quip about how I'm trying to post one-liners. I said it's a shame that Huard, the 2nd-highest rated passer in the NFL, will be benched for Trent Green, who is not as good as Huard. Trent Green is slower than Huard in his progressions and more prone to error. Huard also hasn't had the benefit of being protected/supported by Willie Roaf (or John Tait or Welbourn for that matter), and I believe his improved play over that of Green is a big reason why the Chiefs offense has still been effective this year. The loss of both starting tackles from 2005 and the subsequent drop in pass protection requires that the Chiefs have a qb with good poise and decision-making ability. At the very least it's undeniable that Huard doesn't turn the ball over as much as Green, at best he's been playing as effectively at quarterback as nearly any other in the league. He's an excellent game manager and that's more valuable to the Chiefs than Green's physical talents. Huard also has only been sacked 13 times in 8 games this year, 4 of them occurring in the 1st game when he originally replaced Green and hadn't even gotten the chance to prepare as the starter. That extrapolates to 26 over a full season, 21 if you only count the games in which he's been the starter. Oppose that to the 32 sacks that Green has taken in each of the past 2 seasons with much more talent on the offensive line. To answer your assumption that I haven't seen the Chiefs play: I've seen enough of them over the past 4 years (including the 2003 Bengals win over them when they were 9-0 in person) to know that Green has traditionally had plenty of time to unload the ball after the snap, and that they are a completely different offense this year with much less to offer in the way of pass protection. And that inspite of all that, Huard has performed better this year than Green has in his entire career. If Green is "disrespected", I'd love for you to point out where, because all I see on television or read on the internet is that he's one of the most under-rated players in the league. I sure as hell haven't seen it.I also said the Chiefs' play-off hopes will end if/when Green comes back, which is, again, an opinion. But you'll see that soon enough for yourself. Please disagree with me, I'll hang up and listen.Trent Green is one of the most consistently disrespected and underrated QBs in the league.Do you even watch the Chiefs play or do you just try to think up clever one-liners and post them?Yeah, it's a shame, but Green will probably be the starter when he's healthy again. And the Chiefs' play-off hopes will end accordingly.
A couple 3 and outs and LJ being used to eat up the clock, they could win every game. However they seem to have the scorer's mentality of Vermeil or the D folds and it gets all messed up. LJ could be winning games for them not shootouts. The D would be fresh too and.....geesh that bugs me. Parcells or Gibbs or Cowher or any number of coaches' teams would be scary good with LJ eating up the clock.Anyway, he should afford Trent enough time to work the rust off if Herm does things well.Their problems have been their defense in past years, but one thing about Trent Green is that he always starts the season off slow. Only the media and FF websites have said that he'll play in week 10. He will not play in week 10. He has not even been cleared for full practice, and they're not going to throw him back out there that soon. Remember, it's been 2 months since he's even participated fully in a practice, and about a year since he's played an entire game. They'd consider playing him in week 10 if Huard had been struggling up until this point. But since he's playing so well, they'll continue to take their time and bring him back slowly.Green seemed anxious to play but having been out that's expected. As a Chiefs homer who's watched every game these two have played in here, I'd have to disagree. What Huard has been asked to do is completely different from what Green is normally asked to do. I've said it before in here, and I'll say it again. The biggest difference between the two is the deep ball. Green throws a great one, and Huard doesn't. Huard has really only thrown one nice deep ball this year that I can remember off the top of my head, to Kennison last week, and really...most receivers in this league drop that pass, it was not an easy catch and a bit too far in front of him. Most of the other deep throws he's made like that have not come close enough for the receiver to make the play. That's something that Green has always done well here.Huard's numbers towards non-mistake football is a result of the playcalling. He only has one INT yes, but that's not to say he shouldn't have more. Opposing D's have dropped a few that I can recall, including last week. But more than that, he's not asked to do as much as they asked Green to do. Take the game vs StL, he threw 15 times total. In other games, he's thrown more, but most of them are short to intermediate passes. They've taken very few shots downfield, something they'll have to be able to do if they expect to do anything in the playoffs...and Huard has not shown the ability to do that well.If the Chiefs want to make the playoffs, and lose in the first round...then yeah, stick with Huard. If they want to be able to have a chance at advancing, they have to have Green in there. But they need to stay healthy at other positions, as they got banged up pretty good yesterday.I honestly don't think whether they make the playoffs or not will hinge on which QB is back there. I predicted them to go 10-6 before the season started. So far, I'm one game off...I figured they'd lose at StL yesterday and be 4-4, going 6-2 in the second half. Look at thier remaining schedule. DEN, BAL, SD, and JAX figure to be the only teams over 500 when they play. And other than the SD game, those games are all at Arrowhead.Dude, you really need to learn how not to be an abrasive ########. In the NFL only one thing matters: wins. No offense but you make no sense. You judge by WINS. 5-1 since their bye = Huard stays at QB.Quit it already..... Do you really think Damon Huard would have been holding a clipboard all these years if he were the 2nd best (passer rating) QB in the NFL? Trent Green is far superior....don't judge by stats. If L.J. is getting 20+ TD's then the QB doesn't need TD's for stats. It's a given that Huard has overachieved......but Green is far superior behind center....and that will put Huard back on the sidelines. Stats won't keep the best QB off the field......Green is twice the QB, and for fantasy stats, look elsewhere when he returns. Just mark it down in your "journal" thet you once owned Damon(never to be heard from again)Huard.![]()
