Does Mr. Wong fit anywhere in the Texans LB crew? (1 Viewer)

With Wong coming off the PUP, do you see him having any value? Will he be worked into a starting spot? Obviously Ryans has been playing very good, but could he displace someone else?

Texans head coach Gary Kubiak says SLB Kailee Wong will be activated from the Physically-Unable-to-Perform List on Friday.

Wong is fully recovered from knee surgery underwent midway through last season. Houston is heavy at linebacker, so Roy Manning, who's been inactive for much of the year, could be released to create space.

He'll probably be worked into a rotation with SLB Shawntee Orr initially and then move into the lineup (if he stays healthy) once he gets his game legs back underneath him. He has very little value even if he earns the majority of snaps on the strong side.

I'm projecting Wong bumps Greenwood to the bench.

When both started next to each other at the beginning of 2005, it was said that Wong was clearly the better player.

If you think that is wild, maybe Wong works his way into the middle with Ryans sliding to WLB, bumping Greenwood to the bench. Ryans was an OLB in college.

With all due respect, 2005 in ancient history in terms of the Texans. I doubt Ryans is moved or Greenwood is benched. Wong hasn't played in a year and he is playing for new coaches. He is also on the wrong side of 30.

Anything is possible, but there's no way Shawntee Orr stays on the field over Morlon Greenwood. And I think it's even less likely that Ryans moves outside. He's firmly established himself in the middle and it'll take a much better player than Kailee Wong to boot him outside.Kailee Wong was going to be inserted at SLB in the pre-season after they moved Ryans and before it was decided that Wong hadn't recovered sufficiently to start the season.

Recent reports point to the same.

Houston Chronicle (10-13)

Next week, when the Texans prepare to play Jacksonville at Reliant Stadium, they should get back outside linebacker Kailee Wong and cornerback Demarcus Faggins, both of whom are on the physically unable to perform list.

Wong, who is recovering from three knee operations, will play the strong side.

"All indications are that he's doing well," coach Gary Kubiak said. "We have a 21-day grace period on what we can do, but just watching his rehab, he's been fine."

According to the Chroncle Wednesday, Wong should be healthy enough to rotate in this week.

Cornerback Demarcus Faggins and outside linebacker Kailee Wong practiced for the first time this season. Both are expected to play reserve roles against Jacksonville.

"They might play 30 to 50 percent of the plays; it just depends on what formations the (Jaguars) are in," coach Gary Kubiak said. "They've been out for a long time, and we've got to be smart about how we use them."
