Does the NFL have an active roster minimum? (1 Viewer)

Title pretty much says it all. I won't make you suffer the mundane explanation of why I'm asking, but I'm wondering if an NFL team is allowed to carry fewer than 53 players on the active roster. I can't find a rule on this, and that's probably because no team in their right mind would really want to have fewer than the maximum players allowed on their roster on any given time.

But yeah, I still need to know.

EDIT: Took out the "for a game" part. I'm not concerned with the active roster for a game, I'm asking about the 53 man active roster.

There are only 45 on the active roster for a game. It is common for teams to have less than 53 on the overall active roster, if they're saving a space for someone or just lost someone and haven't replaced him yet.

Oops, yeah I worded my question slightly wrong. I'll fix it.

I want to say 47 is the minimum for active roster at any given time. Could be wrong... rarely ever talk about that.

A guy like Diesel should know
