What...why? This is a perfectly legitimate question. There are constant headlines lately such as "Vick to remain the starter". Whenever I see one of those headlines, I think "No ####". Who really thinks Vick is going to be benched? He still gives them the best chance to win right now. And Andy needs to win or he's out.Unless Philadelphia falls COMPLETELY out of the postseason hunt, Vick will be the starter. Injury is much more of a possibility than a benching.

Vick has one half of bad football left. This weekend is huge for him. I've actually stashed Foles because he will succeed in this system. That's the feeling here in Philly that I he plays the same vs Atlanta looks bad this could be the game he gets demoted.

If other players know he is desperate for a QB because Vick has been benched, they will probably demand more to complete a trade.
I did not see Foles play this pre- season. Anyone have a read as to if this is a good backup strategy? Reeds job is on the line, and would not be surprised to see Vick get pulled if he does not fix the turnovers.
I am holding onto Tennehil and Weeden in case Vick gets pulled.. I may drop math for Foles, as I could use the roster spot..

If Vick isn't the QB for the Eagles, it will be because he succumbed to the massive pressure he faces and gets hurt. It won't be because of coaching decision. Vick has taken 52 QB hits through 7 games, easily the most in the league to date (the 2 AZ QB's have suffered 53 hits but they are sharing the pain).
Nick Foles will be Andy's next quarterback. He was great in preseason and he's perfect for the Reid system of gutless checkdowns and short passes as runs. But he's probably 2 or 3 seasons away from primetime. And he's a statue who would get murdered behind the current OL. besides Peters achillies, Kelce was also a big loss and Evan Mathis has a serious big contract hangover. for more on the Eagles OL, check my week 8 OL rankings in subscriber content.

fwiw i don't think Foles has much of a career without Andy. I saw Foles at the senior bowl practices and thought "meh" he doesn't do much that's special. but put him in that system of short accurate throws it's perfect. cmon let's be real where's andy reid going? eagles fans have wanted this guy fired for 10 years.

Perhaps you missed what his boss, Jeff Lurie, said? Substantial improvement over last year or bye-bye.And for those speculating that Vick will not be benched short of an Eagles collapse, you may be correct by according to Sal Pal Reid was "this close" to making a switch over the bye. Some in the Philly media feel Vick has the Falcons game and the following MNF game in NO to shape up or Foles could be the starter week 10 against the Cowboys.

Vick is their best chance at winning. The guy is amazingly durable when you consider how much he gets hit during a game. If they were to bench him, then say Foles or Edwards gets pancaked & Vick has to start again...it will NOT be pretty.

I agree with this. Foles can't come in until the season is lost barring injury. It was said during the offseason that Reid has to live or die with his decisions. Although he already chose to admit a mistake in the Juan hiring after only 22 games. Andy was the only person in the world who thought that was a good hire (well, besides Juan).

Whether he plays or not, is he even a low end qb1 anymore? Honestly, he's looked so bad I wonder if he is startable (ff wise) even given his favorable schedule.
