I wrote a grumpy letter to Adelphia for losing NFLN when TWC bought them. I wanted to drop my cable package to a different one because of it. They asked me in for an appointment back in late august or early september. That's tomorrow. I'm psyched. Friend of mine said they've got a room setup with all sorts of BS to diagram how many games they have and how they have other sports packages and such. He got his other room cable box fee waived for 6 months to soothe him. Supposedly they schedule 5 people per meeting. I'm excited for this.I've never seen a cable company or phone company or anything like how Adelphia treated us. TWC hasn't truly moved in to full takeover yet. Taking the time to meet with their subscribers.....pay attention TWC this is customer service.I will report back tomorrow night. I'll try and grab some literature if they've got any stating their case.
well, I said I'd report back so...FWIWThey have a room with tons of TVs and posters and 5 computers, especially liked a Sopranos poster "witness perfection". There was 4 of us. Someone comes in and says "use the TVs or computer to see what we offer and I'll be back in a little bit" No sales pitch which I really appreciated. Computer was like a TV tuner. If I click on HBO, a little program came up giving a channel description and saying they offer this many HBO channels and will offer HBO on demand soon, then HBO comes on. You could do that with any channel. NFL Network was simple. NFL offerred them a small amount of money(didn't say how much) to carry the channel. In the beginning they wanted to be the first to carry it. NFL wanted them to be last, possibly for a negotiation tactic IE everyone else has it. Having a firm grip on a key market(NY) generally cable channels offer them more than other areas. They're only waiting for NFL to offer them a reasonable amount. They've asked the NFL to state their offerred amount in press releases and they've refused. They feel the public would understand if they knew they were being "lowballed". Then, they actually played a video with NFL guys talking and clippings from newspapers stating the NFL's side. So they showed both and were very much not pushovers selling something. I expected and was pleased there was no salesman approach. She comes back in the room. Says while they're negotiating with NFL(NFLN) they don't want to lose us as customers so what can they do to appease us? I had no clue what to say. I said discount on my bill? She said OK, how about 10 dollars off your next 6 months bill. Course I said OK. Two people stayed mum which was stupid. The other said he wanted a DVR. If I go back within a week I'll get the DVR free, well for the same price as I pay for my cable box now I think 4.95 month. I asked if every branch of TWC is doing this and she said alot but not every single one. So here's my "heads up" to you to complain and see what they offer you.
