Dolphins are in the mix for Walker? (1 Viewer)

We all know that Philly and Denver are trying to get Walker, but I hadn't heard that Miami was in the mix before now.

We're kind of depleted in draft picks right now, I'm not sure what we'd be able to offer

The Dolphins are in the trade mix for Green Bay Packers wide receiver Javon Walker, the Rocky Mountain News reported in today's editions.

One of the NFL's top young wide receivers before suffering a major knee injury last September, Walker recently demanded a trade from the Packers after being unable to reach agreement on a long-term contract extension.

The Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly the other top suitors.

Sportsline.com reported that Green Bay is demanding a first-round draft choice for Walker, which appears too high a price tag for most teams.

Walker, who played at FSU, was the 20th overall pick in the 2002 draft.

Good question on what they could offer. Maybe a conditional 07 pick?

Chambers, JW, Booker, and Welker would make for a nice group. Add McMichael and Ronnie Brown, and if Culpepper gets / stays healthy - watch out.

Seems too crowded to me. Javon is a number 1, Chambers is a number 1 and Booker was a number 1. Would have to be a lot of throwing to keep all three happy, not to mention McMicheal and Brown needing touches.

Who isn't Miami in the mix for? They have been very aggressive in the rumor mill this offseason.

This one doesn't make too much sense to me. Walker's a player but Miami has other more important holes to fill instead of adding a soon to be big money WR that will also cost a draft pick or two.

Source: Miami pursuing Walker

By Jeff Legwold, Rocky Mountain News

April 27, 2006

With phone lines buzzing around the NFL as the draft approaches, the Denver Broncos have some competition in their pursuit of disgruntled Green Bay Packers receiver Javon Walker.

The Miami Dolphins, according to a league source, have joined the discussion with the Packers about acquiring Walker.

The Broncos have considered acquiring Walker since last month, when coach Mike Shanahan made informal inquiries around the league, including to former Packers coach Mike Sherman, now on the coaching staff of the Houston Texans.

As for Legwold - the RMN Bronco beat writer - I can personally say that he is pretty credible & does a good job with his reporting. After a couple of decades of DEN sports writers who don't know **** about football & whose writing about the NFL was laughable, Legwold does a great job with acurately reporting his sources and consequently his info has pretty good value.

Walker to visit Saints, Broncos

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Javon Walker has received permission from the team to explore trade opportunities and a deal is expected before this weekend's NFL draft, league sources with direct knowledge of the situation said.

Walker is visiting the New Orleans Saints on Thursday and is scheduled to visit the Denver Broncos on Friday.

The Packers are also engaging in trade talks with the Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles but conversations aren't as far along as they are with the Saints and Broncos. Walker does not have any visits scheduled beyond the Saints and Broncos.

That's the first I've heard of the Pats interest. The only way I can see Walker in Foxboro is if talks between Branch and the team are not going well. On paper Walker would be an excellent addition but I don't see the Pats committing the kind of cash it would take to secure both Walker and Branch long term. They do have plenty of cap space but I would be very surprised if a good chunk of it went to the WR position.

Come on Fins. Mix it up good. This is a premium player, ready to contribute, at a position that can not reasonably be obtained in the draft this year, and even if it could you'd have to wait three years for the production.

Bidding War, Bidding War

Sorry, I'm a Packer fan in dream land..

C'mon Dolfan - you should know better that to trust anything you read in the local papers.

Only reason either of those 2 publications (Miami Herald) still exhists is they are excellent for wrapping fish.

We currently have no 2nd or 3rd round pick in the draft this weekend, so there is simply no way they can make a trade to the pack for Walker. Someone should probably tell the morons at the Sun Sentinal these little details.

I thought maybe we'd trade our #16 for him...Then if we could only find someone to trade our 4th and 7th round picks for, we could just skip this weekend all-together, have a bar-b-q and :banned: all weekend :headbang:

Miami still has its third round pick.
