Dolphins to wait on Harrington? (1 Viewer)

I saw on ESPN's website that it looks like the Phins may just wait until Harrington is released rather than trade him. Of course I'm not "in" so I have no idea what it said.

It seems like a no brainer to me. Joey has already said he wants to go to Miami. I think they have agreed in principal to contract numbers. Why would the Dolphins want to give up any pick at all knowing he will be released and he wants to go to Miami? Of course I'm sure Millen will pitch a fit about this as well.

This just feels like it's going to turn out badly.

It's like the guy with the overbearing wife that never goes out. He overhears the guys at work talking about going out and gets all excited and basically invites himself along. The guys at work figure, hey why not, he can't be that bad.

So the guy goes home and tells his wife that he's going out with the guys from work. She likes to make his life miserable and so she tells him that there's no way he's going out with them. He begs and pleads and keeps telling the guys that he really wants to go out with them but his wife won't let him. He wants them to put in a work for him with his wife but they're starting to cool on the idea of having him come along because he's way too excited about just a typical night out.

Then when the wife finally caves, the guys reluctantly let him come along but he ends up getting really drunk, wants to be the center of attention all night, pukes on a cops shoes and ruins the night for everyone.

Quick Summary:

1. Lions put out feelers for trades, because they don't want to pay Harrington's bonus in June.

2. They give Harrington permission to seek a trade. He visits the Bengals and Dolphins.

3. Harrington is enamored with the Dolphins, works out contract.

4. Dolphins offer 2007 6th rounder, Lions want 2006 4th rounder.

5. Harrington publically states that he only wants to play for the Dolphins, thereby undermining any sort of bargaining power for Millen and the Lions.

6. Lions try to trade Harrington to the Browns on draft day, but the deal goes sour when Harrington says he doesn't want to play for the Browns.

7. Draft ends with Harrington still on the Lions and most of the other interested teams filling their QB needs.

8. Millen gets mad and takes a shot at Saban saying that working out a contract was tampering and against the rules. He says something along the lines that when he gave them permission to talk he just wanted them to, "get to know the kid." He files a complaint with the NFL.

9. The NFL tells Millen, "You sir are a moron." Ok, they just denied the complaint but they should've called him a moron.

10. After that cheap shot by Millen, Saban withdraws his offer and decides to wait since there are no other suitors.

Now the Lions can either pay Harrington 8.5 million in bonuses and salary this year or they can release him for no compensation. Harrington seemingly won't restructure his contract for anyone but the Dolphins, so it looks like Millen will get nothing and has again been exposed as the worst GM in the league.

I love the Lions. It is a sickness i know and I am working towards recovery. But

Last year, my wife who loves me very much, secured 4 tickets to a Lions game for me from a sales rep. 50 yard line, row 10. thats right. I am still giving her foot rubs for that. But i digress. the game was the Millen Man March game, end of the season, agianst Cincinati. We are sttiing in the seats and watching the pregame warmups, Millen walks onto the field and starts talking with Jauron. Immediately on all the TV screens and displays, the Lioins flashed messages about "proper conduct" and "any offensive behavior, as determined by Lions officials will result in expulsion"

You heard the sound of 5000 butts hitting the seats and not screaming at Millen.

The lions won the toss and fumbled the opening kickoff. Maybe we should have yelled at Millen.

We did see people holding up anti-Millen signs being escorted out within minutes of unfurling them. (Matt, that is a big word for Holding The Sign Up)

Anger, resentment, hate are all words that come up short when describing what the entire town of Detroit, state of Michigan and Lions fans everywhere feel about the fat one.

The Lions were 9-7 the year before Millen took over. They havent sniffed 500 since.

Please, please, please, can someone tell me when our long Detroit nightmare will be over?

 Over

I hope DET/TEN get nothing for Harrington/McNair. What bargaining position do they honestly think they have? The only way they have any bargaining power at all is if they might be willing to honor the contracts. I don't think either team is willing to honor the contracts they signed so they should have just settled for ANYTHING that was offered. Now it's.... NO SOUP FOR YOU!
