it depends on if Kubiak wants a speed guy. One thing Smith isn't....is fast.
i could see them going with Antwain Smith early in the season, but he would be a great candidate to sell early to get all you can.

Morency (if Dom can't go). I've reported that Smith is slooooooow in practice...and he looked even slower in the game Saturday night. If he makes the team he will be an emergency back imo. Lundy has some sweet feet and he looked excellent on punt and kick returns...Lundy is a lock to make the roster. I don't think Smith is.Morency gets the start this weekend vs the Rams.

Thank you. I agree on the Lundy looking good on the returns. I also see some of the "smaller" things like blocking and receiving of Lundy making the path easier for Morency. It is difficult for a rookie to pick up on these things.

The thing that makes Morency special is his explosive cut back ability. He just has to be more patient and make his cuts in the open field after he presses the crease in the zone blocking scheme. Nobody on this team explodes out of a cut like Morency can. Nobody...including Dom. Dom has great vision and is good at breaking arm tackles, but doesn't have the explosive change of direction Morency has.

If you didn't see it yet, might want to check out the thread on the game. Quite a few sets of observations in there.I don't think we'll know who the backup will be until Morency gets his shot this week. I wouldn't be surprised though if Antowain is in the mix just for blitz pickup.
