pizza and side bread options for the price

Of the low grade chains:

Papa John's - about 1/2 sugar.

Pizza Hut - at least 1/2 salt.

Little Caesar's - Mostly cardboard, but tolerable on occasion

Dominoes - easily the best of the four. Could eat it regularly.
Agreed while it's not high quality Dominoes blows the others on this list away.

Both terrible. But, if only two options I prefer Domino's taste but would probably opt for Little Caesar's out of price and convenience. $5 total to quickly feed two male law students was pretty good back in the day. That meant a lot more money could be put towards beer.

Also I am all about $5 pizzas when my kids have friends over. We (well "I") buy a lot of them in the summer (I am lazy and cheap)

Little Caesars is one of my guilty pleasures. I guess the bottom line for me is that *ALL* of the national pizza chains are basically "government cheese on cardboard", so why not go with the cheapest and most convenient option?

Mostly agreed but regularly?

We go with marco's most of the time but you know who makes a surprisingly good pizza? Costco.

Love the pizza snobs who couldn't eat just one slice of either.
I wouldnt. Its not because im a snob i just live in a big city where there are always options.

I would imagine it would be easy to find real pizza in just about any town in the USA but i could be wrong. In that situation i can understand going to them.

i can also understand going to LC is you are struggling financially. the only time i ever ate there was when i was down to my last 5 bucks a few years ago and i dont plan on ever having to do it again.

Not a fan of Dominos, especially since they changed up their recipes.

Little Caesars is fine in a pinch. Their pan pizza and Italian cheese bread are shockingly good compared to the rest of their offerings.

I happen to live in a city where, for some strange reason, the Pizza Huts are just absolutely top notch. Toppings, crust, and not as much grease as normal.

What would cause one city to be better than any other?

In college would have said Little Caesars. Went decades without one near me and the current stuff isn't nearly as decent. Dominos haven't had since shortly after the rebranding, it was decent but not great and I'd go with it over Little Caesars from what I remember.

And maybe I'm also in an area where Pizza Hut is much better than the norm, because the ones around me blow away both competitors and are much better than any frozen pizza I've ever had. By an amount that I felt baffled seeing how many people were rating them below the competition.

Making my own pizza is still my preference though.

I assume they're a franchise (too lazy to look it up) and would also assume there are people who own multiple franchises. If a person owns multiple franchises they are likely in the same geographic area. So it's very possible that if you go to 3 or 4 pizza huts in your area they are owned by the same person. Then again this is all conjecture and I have no clue how Pizza Hut runs their business.

That would make sense. Our last city (Fayetteville, NC) had great pizza huts. Here (huntsville, al) they're horrible.

Area of the country matters. I can tell you all of them are heinous in Miami. Even the mom n pops are so so with a few exceptions.

You show up somewhere and there are 10 LC or D pizzas. It's feeding time and you haven't eaten. What do you do?

Flip one pie from one company and lay it on top of the other companies pie.

Then enjoy the #### sandwich

Had a Halloween event at kids elementary school this year, wife was part of planning. We bought 60 LC pizzas to sell individual pieces. Made $8 for each $5 pizza. Nice cash for fundraising. Van smelled pretty good after loading 60 pizzas in it!!

Food snobbery can be fairly entertaining on this board. But the over the top hyperbole over pizza is more hilarious than usual.

:D

A good assumption as every FBG has the best local pizza joint in the world conveniently located right down the street.
:bowtie:

Although rated as the best in the world by endless publications (below is just the first page of Google, it goes on for dozens of pages), I think there are better in my neighborhood.

I consider myself an expert in the pizza category and location gives me the ability to try the best places whenever I want.

I can't put a vote down here bc I haven't had Little Caesers in probably 20+ years, but I would say Dominos is perfectly adequate at 3am when incoherent and will only be vaguely remembered. There is one 2 blocks from my house and once every few months when stumbling home, I'll grab a medium pie and scarf that #### down, always makes me happy, but the unhappiness sets in when I wake up and see the empty box in the morning. Even in a completely ####faced state of mind, their cheese bread / sticks have fallen to ####, can't even order them after 18 drinks. I actually ordered it 2 weeks ago to pick up while in a taxi on the ride home, I was so ####ed up I never stopped in to grab it :kicksrock:

Any dollar slice place is better.

Of the low grade chains:

Papa John's - about 1/2 sugar.

Pizza Hut - at least 1/2 salt.

Little Caesar's - Mostly cardboard, but tolerable on occasion

Dominoes - easily the best of the four. Could eat it regularly.
If the choice is one of those ill easily take Pizza Hut

I haven't had Pizza Hut in a long time. But I always preferred to eat it there. Delivered the oil tends to be an issue.

I used to get crazy bread at Little Caesars once a week. I would ask for them to make it fresh rather than take one of the premade. Then one time while I was waiting for it to come out of the oven, I heard the employees talking in the back with one saying she could never eat crazy bread again after working there and seeing how disgustingly they are made. I never went back.

Much like everybody, I have an amazing pizza place nearby. But by the time I order a large with a few toppings and a salad and have it delivered, it's almost 45 bucks. Some of these pizza shops are out of their mind now.
Yep. Everyone knows non-chain is better but the pricing is very different. Especially with kids, I'm not interested in paying $28 per pizza in all situations.

Yep

We do pizza most Friday nights. With 4 boys we get at least 3 pizzas. If I want to pay close to $90 for dinner, I'm not getting Pizza.

The LC Deep Dish is good if fresh

The Dominos thin crust is good, and their spicy sausage is tasty.

Haven't had LC or Dominos in years.

But over the holidays had a take and bake from Costco and agree with other posts above - that is good stuff!

Either are better than Papa John's, but that opinion if from 10+ years ago. I just don't see the point of eating bad food.

I like Papa John's thin crust pizza better than the other major chains. For bread, I'd say Domino's garlic bread bites over Pizza Hut's breadsticks. I worked at Pizza Hut as a teenager. The place I go to most now is 800 Degrees. Much better quality crust and toppings.

When I get pizza I am looking for cheap and quick. We have both these joints very near us but little Caesars is cheaper and quicker. As for taste both pizzas are nothing special but neither is terrible IMO. Little Caesars bread is better than dominos.

When I am looking to spend money on dinner pizza is not my choice.

Little Caesars bread is better than dominos.
 The Italian Cheese Bread with extra cheese (phone preorder) is pretty ####### good for the $.
You guys want bread?

Buy a loaf of ciabatta and slice thin. Blend Lipton Onion Soup mix with butter, spread over ciabatta slices and bake on 325 for about 10 minutes - cheaper and better.
No ty. I abhor cooking for the most part.

I like to make a big fancy meal about once a week. Cheese bread (and this discussion) are not about big meals.

Cold say the same about the fast food joints I worked in years ago which shall remain nameless. You really don't want to hear employees talk about any fast food type place better not to know.

When I worked at Pizza Hut as a teenager, nothing was too bad. Let's just say I still ate the pizza and breadsticks during and after working there.

I worked 6 months at Taco Bell in college..have never ate there since. The meat is the lowest grade for human consumption. If you tasted it without all the spices and sauce you would vomit.

Ouch. Just like In-and-Out.

Family likes it. I can't get past the salt content. That's pretty much all I taste there - not sure how much is in there but it's much higher than the others.

I can only figure most voting for Little Ceasars haven't eaten at either or both of these places in a while. A good assumption as every FBG has the best local pizza joint in the world conveniently located right down the street. Domino's isn't great, but it's gotten a little better over the last couple of years. It's perfectly tolerable and not a huge step below Papa Johns now (and a lot better than Pizza Hut).

Little Ceasar's, on the other hand, is absolutely dreadful. Even at $6 with no wait, it's still not worth it.
This is my hunch as well. In the last few months, I've had each of them for the first time in a long time. In the past, I would have answered Little Caesars, but I was surprised to find Domino's was a little better than I remembered and Little Caesars was much worse than I remembered. Domino's wins.

Oh, I mean I'm too good to even answer this question. How dare you even ask me to choose!
