Lions | Rogers working hard to be ready for 2006

Fri, 16 Jun 2006 05:29:03 -0700

Mike O'Hara, of the Detroit News, reports Detroit Lions WR Charles Rogers is working hard to get ready for the 2006 season. Rogers recently bought a treadmill. The treadmill is an indication Rogers has recommitted himself to being a productive player. There have been hints of late from inside the Lions organization Rogers has improved his standing. "Charles is going to be fine," Mike Martz, the new offensive coordinator, said one day last week. "A lot of people could have quit and folded. It's not going to happen. I'm not going to quit, and I'm not going to fold," said Rogers. Rogers has his weight down to 202 pounds, about eight pounds lighter than last season. Rogers also knows this: It isn't what he says that will define his role with the Lions. Many people, including those close to the organization, thought he was finished as a Lion. "I just died and came back," Rogers said. "It's life after death. I went to hell and came back."

:lmao:

My folks bought a treadmill. It was too much work so after a few months they traded it in on one of those Nordic Riders where you sat on the seat and pulled the bars toward you. Again, too much work. So a few months later they traded that in on a Nordic Trac. Too much work again. Not sure how many thousands of my inheritence they wasted on that crap but I know one thing, owning a treadmill doesn't mean you will actually use a treadmill.

And seriously, if he's to lazy to drive to the local gym or the Lions training facility to run on a treadmill, or heaven forbid, actually run on the sidewalk or in a park what's the liklihood that he will actually use the thing? It's not like he's got a lot to do in the offseason. Driving to the gym can't be that too big of a deal. He's probably got some sweet rides. I would want to go to the gym just to have an excuse to drive whatever cars he's got...

It is not about a treadmill. I'm not a fan of his but it just seems he is committing himself. Isn't that what everyone has been wanting to hear for 3 years now? :whoosh: This kid showed up thinking he was "the man". He was hyped to the extreme only to be knocked to reality. I hope the kid finally gets his stuff together. He has the physical talent and he is going to be part of a system where wrs excell. Let's see how good he can be. If it doesn't work this year, it may never work.

I think the point everyone is making is that buying a treadmill doesn't mean he's committed himself to being a better wide reciever anymore than me buying a guitar makes me committed to being a rock star.

This treadmill could be bad news instead of good news. Didn't Michael Bennett get seriously hurt during a treadmill accident 2 years ago? Regardless, Charles Rogers will probably get drugged up and fall off the treadmill and bust his collarbone again. :lmao:

I'm having a hard time deciding which of these is funnier. In a lame kinda way.

i've owned a treadmill for years.. I have yet to get signed to a contract with any NFL team..

Time to file a formal complaint with the NFLPA :boxing:

This flies in the face of everything else we've heard coming out of Detroit this off-season so... :bs:
No it doesn't. Not at all. There has been far more positive news on Rogers than there has been negative this season.

Actually,  I see this as a good sign for you overall as if they don't exercise you're likely to get your inheritance sooner rather than later and they won't spend their money on things like multiple Disney cruises where the only thing you end up getting out of it is a picture of your folks together with your Dad wearing one of those ridiculous Captain hats and a bottle of duty free rum. You know they actually say if you win the Powerball lottery its better to get one lump sum (despite the enormous tax) rather than spread the payments out over the 30 year time period (less taxes on your payments) because you can put your money into investments faster and grow your money. If this happens to you, I reccomend hiring a personal trainer for life, staying away from red meat, and living to the ripe old age of 107. :stirspot:   That and I hear the new Ferrari GTB is a great car for running all your errands as it is the most economic car in its class and gets great gas mileage.

I totally got where everyone was coming from. I was getting at this being the first time I have ever actually heard he is eventrying to seem committed.

You need to get with Spartans Rule then.

Apparently he has come across a veritable plethora of positive news on Rogers.

To be fair to Spartans Rule, all the comments have been warm and fuzzy "working hard" "doing everything we are asking", etc ...But the actions (i.e., taking reps with the third team) are not quite as positive ...

Still, I am hopeful and am drinking the kool-aid ...
