Strong safety Donte Whitner is out indefinitely with a separated right shoulder, but defensive end Aaron Schobel’s season is in danger of ending because of a lingering foot injury.

Whitner was injured late in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 26-17 loss to the New York Jets. He tried to keep playing, but eventually left the game for good in noticeable pain with his right arm dangling at his side.

Coach **** Jauron refused to say if Whitner would need surgery. Jauron described the situation as week to week, though he did say the injury was “fairly significant.”

A separated shoulder, depending on its severity, usually requires at least two to four weeks for it to heal. More serious cases would require surgery and a much longer recovery.
