Double Yoked Eggs (1 Viewer)

Beef Ravioli

Footballguy
Before this week, I think I have seen it once in my 48 years. Granted, until the last few years, we didn’t use a lot of eggs unless a recipe called for it.

This last carton (a dozen) thus far this week, 3 out of 5 have been double yokes. Why? Could it be they are coming from the same farm that is pumping them full of steroids or should I play the lottery this week?

I hadn't considered this. It's ingenious. Wait until the egg hatches, and plow a tiny field. Pre-equipped.

Did you buy a different size egg? Jumbos have a much higher percentage of double-yolks than the smaller sizes in my experience.

I've noticed this too. Probably 90% hit rate on double-yolks in the last 3 cartons.

Where are you located? SEPA here.

Regarding the bolded, I'd say skip the lottery and up the life insurance. That's my plan, anyway.

I have a buddy who used to have a chicken that consistently laid double yolkers. Best fried egg sandwiches ever. Coon got in and killed him. RIP dyolk!

My mom was pretty good at picking double-yolkers from the selection at the store. She would pick through all of the jumbo cartons to create her own custom carton, and there would be at least 4 double-yolkers in every dozen, even occasionally picking a triple-yolker.

A triple yoker - wow!

"The odds rise to 1 in 25 million for a triple yolker."

Your mom was either the luckiest human alive or full of ####.

Got another one yesterday in a carton of large not jumbo eggs. That’s six in the last 14 eggs we’ve cracked after maybe one that I can ever remember in my 48 years.

Steroids? I may be going organic!
