Doug Baldwin WR SEA (1 Viewer)

This guy is really starting to rip it up, is his status still hinging on M. Williams return, or (as Mad Sweeney suggests) has he carved out a niche for himself? What about Obamanu; odd man out?
Obamanu/M Williams play the same position so that'll be the question. Baldwin is the unquestioned slot receiver.
So he's starting on all 3 WR sets? What's the Charlie Whitehurst factor? Was this just a lucky game for him to go 11 of 19 for 165 and a TD? Will it get much worse? I'm trying to gauge what the opportunity is. The QB doesn't have to be perfect (see Pierre Garcon), but must be decent and the opportunities/targets have to be there. I'm intrigued on Baldwin after watching his week 5 plays.

I've been impressed with Baldwin but I'm really struggling with the idea that two WRs (Rice and Baldwin) can thrive from a fantasy perspective with Charlie Whitehurst at QB. That's the issue I've been having trying to project Baldwin going forward.

Let's call this the "painter" effect. When C.Painter came in, it was obvious he targeted Garcon a lot, and this has continued. When Whitehurst came in, he also targeted Baldwin a lot. Let's see if this continues this week. If Haden plays this week, then Baldwin becomes an even better play bc I'm guessing that Haden would match up on Rice.

Who knows what happens when T.Jackson comes back, but I'm going to say that Baldwin becomes more of a boom/bus player then.

To be fair, Peyton Manning targeted Garcon a lot too (115 times in 14 full games). It was only Kerry Collins that had the blind spot to his right.I was just looking at some stats from one of my leagues and was shocked to see that Doug Baldwin was WR26 for the season so far. I own the guy and didn't know that. He may not keep it up, but five weeks starts to be enough time that you have to take the possibility that he might seriously too IMO.

I think the reasons both Rice and Baldwin will be fantasy contributors this year are:1. Seattle has not been throwing to tight ends or rbs much this year for whatever reason2. I don't think Rice will have huge numbers, but decent. So imo it is possible for the crappy Seattle QBs to make 2 WRs fantasy relevant since they don't throw to anyone else and neither will be fantasy monsters, but good contributors.ETA: Oh, and I think Baldwin is a fine player as well

not to mention he plays in the slot... and not to mention that Seattle sucks and they are going to play from behind a lot... which not only will they pass the ball a lot.. but he will get a lot of garbage time receptions too being in the slot....

This is good advice. Even if Haden does play, he'll be limited in the number of snaps he can play. I'd say this is a pretty decent matchup for Baldwin. He'll have either Sheldon Brown or Dimitri Patterson on him for the majority of the snaps. If he continue to get a decent number of targets Baldwin could have a nice season.

What happened here? Any SEA homers care to chime in? Last game this guy played he had 136 yards receiving and he cant even get a reception in a friggin 6-3 loss? I know rookie up and downs but in this close of a game I would of thought SEA would of been able to utilize everyone better, especially with Lynch down.

Thoughts on Baldwin going forward? He's clicking with Tarvaris Jackson and Big Mike Williams has faded from view. How are people viewing Baldwin the rest of the way?

I like his future...

T Jackson has returned to QB and is a clear better passing option than Whitehurst.

Big Mike Williams is floundering and still drawing top coverage DB.

They have Dallas (#7 toughest Def for WR) and will likely be playing catchup....

Then Sea faces the following teams...

Batl (#12 toughest)

StL Rams (#27)

Wash (#16)

Philly (#10)

StL Rams (#27)

Chi Bears (#18)

SF 49'ers (#22)

I am trying to decide on starting him, E Doucet vs StL or Tony Gonz vs Indy
