Dr. Gobbler welched out on his bet from year ago in this thread (1 Viewer)

METTA WORLD PEAAAAAAACE

30 Rebounds for Bynum!

Destroy the Spurs in San Antonio without Kobe.

But a perfect night was ruined by the Thunder......

It's obvious Kobe is only sitting to force some teammates to step up without him in order to give them confidence for the playoffs. Mad genius!

11 years ago, the Lakers had a big NBC Sunday afternoon game vs the New York Knicks. It was the 9th to last game of the year and important for the Lakers to win and start rolling. That day the Lakers lost at home scoring only 78 points. Kobe injured his wrist and sat out the next 5 games as the Lakers battled for seeding position. What happened next was the greatest run in NBA history. The Lakers went on to win 23 of the next 24 games including the greatest playoff record of all time at 15-1 to become back to back world champs. Everyone involved including Kobe said the key to the run was Kobe sitting out those 5 games and seeing the team play and win without him, and how he could integrate himself to make the team the best it can be.Let's hope this will be a repeat....

How many times did Shaq have 30 rebounds? (Zero)

I guess Bynum is ahead of Shaq on the all-time Laker list now.

Lets talk playoff seeding.

With the Grizz loss tonight, we are looking very likely for the 3rd seed. We have a tough schedule but so do the Clips.

My ideal bracket:

1.Thunder

8.Nuggets

4.Clippers

5.Grizzlies

2.Spurs

7.Mavericks

3.Lakers

6.Rockets

Avoid the Thunder,Clips, and Grizz. A tough matchup for the Spurs in round 1, and the Thunder in round 2.

As far as our 1st round opponent, I throw the Nuggets/Rockets/Suns/Jazz into the same category, I just really want to avoid the Mavs.

Spurs would be tough in round 2, they have homecourt, but I think we match up better with them, than the other Western contenders

I think the Clips/Grizz winner would have a good shot at beating the Thunder, would be a great series

Hopefully Kobe comes back soon to get some rhythm back, and we start rolling.

The only teams I would hope to avoid till the west conf finals are OKC and Memphis (this team just scares me if they get hot).

I think we have too much length for the rest of the teams and honestly Kobe sitting out these games has been the best thing that could happen. I mean #### even Blake has started to hit jumpers. MWP and Barnes have also been super active which is something that will carry over into the playoffs. Our bench isn't playing like a liability for the first time this year.

My only concern are injuries - Kobe obviously and I'm hoping Sessions shoulder injury isn't getting worse.

Lakers will be only a half game above the Clipps after this loss. Don't they realize I have a bet with Dr. Gobbler? Both teams have been red hot lately (though not the Lakers tonight obviously). Gonna go right down to the wire...

Lakers are getting killed by the Spurs again. And they have to play Oklahoma City on Sunday. Doesn't look good for my wager with Gobbler. I may be sending him $40 after all.

Maybe, maybe not. I only know one thing, if Chauncey Billups didn't get injured the Clippers would be 6 or 7 games ahead of the Lakers right now, easily.

You never know. Sure, they went into the tank when he went down, but they've also had an extraordinary run the last 2 weeks, so maybe that wouldn't have happened either. Anyhow, it's going to be a close finish.

When Billups came back from surgery and was coaching from the sidelines they turned it around. They lost at least 10 games with turnovers in the last 4- 5 minutes, that wouldn't have happened with Mr. Bigshot on the floor.

It's looking like another 2nd round exit.
Who knows? The last few weeks of regular season ball never seem to be predict anything. It's almost like preseason football, in that coaches don't want to show their hand, and test matchups which will never happen once the playoffs start.

Biggest win of the year for the Lakers. It came at a price, though- a several game suspension for World Peace. Also, I'm wondering how hard Bynum is going to play now since he didn't contribute at all to the 4th and the two overtimes- given his attitude, this is the exact sort of thing that will piss him off.

But how about Jordan Hill and Ebanks? Both really made a difference.

Well, looks like Mike Brown has lost his goon for a while. Hopefully Stern will do the right thing and kick that maniac out of the league. :lmao: at proud Lakeshow fans. Ron Ron knocks Harden out of the game and you guys are proud. Dirtbags.

To have any shot at beating OKC in the second round. Ron has to be playing at the level he has the last 7-10 games. I'm hoping he's suspended 5 or so games, but he deserves any length given to him.

Great comeback, Hollinger hated the end of that game. Kobe brought out his "most all defensive teams by a guard in NBA history" game today and showed it to Westbrook.

Either a win at Sacramento or a loss by the Clips in any of their last 3, and the division is ours for the 5th straight year.

Looking like Denver in round 1, and OKC in round 2, if we get past the Nuggs.

Seems to be handling it pretty well and acknowledging a poor effort:
But after posting 10 points on five-of-15 shooting and eight rebounds in the Lakers' 114-106 double-overtime win Sunday over the Oklahoma City Thunder, Bynum sounded different than he has in recent weeks. He didn't take digs at Lakers Coach Mike Brown, and he didn't vow to continue such behavior.

“I just played poorly. It’s easily fixable,” Bynum said. “I don’t think I was posting up hard and they were getting in front of me. I wasn’t being aggressive.”

 Exactly what I was hoping to hear from him.

how in the hell did the lakers come back?

i shut it off when they were down 17 as the 3rd quarter was winding down to do some chores.

with all the handwringing over artest cold cocking hardin, i will say that hardin will think twice about bumping into people after a dunk. clearly hardin was trying to be a doosh there...he just didnt really think of who he was doing it to and that artest is completely unstable.

so many times nba players passive aggressively shove players after big plays like hardin was trying to do, so i did think it was pretty hilarious to see hardin get a bit more than he bargained for.

Nice win and all, but it feels like fools gold to me. Kobe was great all the way around, and they played some nice D. Will they continue to play D at that level? Can they bank on that and Jordan Hill making up for Bynum's no shows? Will Ebanks be able to fill in for World Peace? I don't think so.

It's now very important that they get the 3rd seed and avoid Memphis in the 1st round.

Damn what a downer you are! Enjoy the win. Whatever happens next, happens. We can't worry about it.

It really is terrible that for Artest to really play at his best, he has to ride such an emotional edge. He really had been a big factor defensively and offensively lately. He definitely deserves whatever suspension is coming, but Lakers are gonna hurt matchup wise without him.

That said, I'm kinda surprised Harden hadn't caught an elbow or fist prior to now. The guy has always pushed the trash talk to a deeper level and always relies on pushing buttons. Unfortunately he pushed the wrong guy's buttons on Sunday. Artest is always a time bomb when it comes to that kinda stuff. He cracked when Kobe did it to him back in Houston too...Guy is the hulk...don't make him angry, you won't like him when he's angry.

:goodposting: Harden wanted to be a tough guy, but got trucked by a luntic. Artest's action is still 1000% wrong, but Harden should have crossed to the other side of the street.

thats what happens when you play with fire scarecrow.sorry, i dont feel too bad for someone who takes an elbow to the head when he was intentionally trying to get a reaction from artest.

now artest should be suspended for a long long time, but i wont be shedding any tears for hardin.

Pacific division champions and the 3rd seed. Thank you Atlanta. Also Tim and myself win money.

I would be surprised if Kobe, Pau, and Drew play Thursday night.

Not yet. The bet was the Lakers would have a better record than the Clippers. A tie means a push. No tiebreakers in bets.

Wha??? That post was spot on. And the ending, which you disliked the most, was the best part. :lmao: Man are you a trip.

Harden did not deserve to get elbowed in the head. He could have been seriously hurt. I didn't find that funny.

What if the scoring title is on the line? Does he risk injury vs the title??
He has scoring titles, dunk contests and all that other useless junk. He wants a 6th chip more than anything.
Agreed. I think it would speak volumes if Kobe sat out Thurs and when asked about the scoring race pointed out how inconsequential it is when the real goal is another Larry O'Brien.

You really feel that sorry for the instigator? You're acting like there was eminent danger here. Was Artest going to go back and finish him off or something? I don't get it. It's sports, this stuff happens, they're big boys. And Artest now pays the price. LOFL @ "seriously hurt".

Congrats Lakers on getting the 3 seed. Puts you right on course to get destroyed by OKC in Round 2 should you make it.

But at least Kobe's playing in a meaningless game to get the scoring title!!

The Lakers currently have zero small forwards (MWP, Barnes, Ebanks all probably out)...and only one other two on the roster. I doubt Christian Eyenga is ready to go 48 minutes so yeah I assume Kobe is playing. Sit or play, I assume it would be spun into how selfish the guy is though, so here's hoping he drops 50.

The team i loved, the team of Magic and Kareem has become the team of Bynum and Artest.

It is sad beyond words.

Excellent point. If he does play, I'm with you, I hope he goes off offensively b/c if he'll be criticized regardless of whether he gets the scoring title or not.
