Draft Chat With our Draftniks Matt Waldman and Sigmund Bloom Tonight D (1 Viewer)

Aaron Williams is kind of baffling... no spot for him at FS with Byrd there. Bills swinging for a double here. Would have hoped their scouting department/Nix had found something in one of Dalton/Kaep/Mallett that they thought merited the pick. Cincy gets Dalton if all the buzz is to be believed.
Definitely strange. Hard to think they pass on a QB for a nickel back, but they may see him as Florence's replacement in the short and long term.

i like Buf picks too, investing in their D.

O side of the ball, like WR's they could find plenty in later rounds and ofcource in FA.

Why does he have to play FS? They have lots of holes in their secondary. And I really don't care for any of those QBs. They're all 3rd or 4th round guys and I think all will be clipboard holders. None of those QBs are better than Fitzpatrick. Might as well wait until next year and see how things pan out.

Broncos still need lots of help in the front seven. The argument with Miller was that there'd be a better DE/DT available here than OLB. If they like Bowers or Marvin Austin or Stephen Paea or Jabaal Sheard -- though I'm still not sold on Miller's role -- the argument will have held water.

Or they may not like any of them as well as the SF package.

So at this point, are we assuming that Bowers' knee is literally hamburger meat? The kid was the # 1 pick in the draft after Luck bowed out.
I keep hearing he cleared medically. At this point - you have to guess we'll have an interesting tidbit surface post draft.Somethings up.
Seems that way. Still, I'd be thrilled if the Bills take him at 34. Screw the 3-4 in Buffalo. They don't have the LBers for it anyway. Kyle Williams, Dareus and Bowers up front would be awesome (with mix of Carrington and Troupe )
I think in the second you say screw it and roll the dice on Bowers. So maybe you get 3-4 years and he's done. A lot of the coaching staffs picking early in the second may not have THAT long a shelf life.
Just catching up here... I heard today that the guaranteed $$$ that is in NFL contracts is actually guaranteed by insurance companies and NOT paid out directly by the team up front to the player. Bowers couldn't pass the screening to get the insurance policy for a first round guarantee bonus level (I'd guess $10M+) so now he's more "signable" in Round 2.

All the Titans potential targets still on the board. Predict Randall Cobb or Marvin Austin.

Cardinals need to draft Mallett. Fitzgerald would be a great influence.

Really liked Sheard and mentioned him on the show last night. If the Browns can find an inside backer that allows them to bump Gocong back outside, the transition to a 4-3 might go a little more smoothly than it looked last month.

Sirius radio said a lot of teams had Sheard off their board for injury concens, but with the Browns having two seconds, it was worth the risk. What about Bowers?

:goodposting:Quite the transformation they just did if both of their picks work out

I like Sheard, but I haven't seen a single scout I regularly follow suggest that Sheard is a comparable pass rusher (yet). It almost has to mean that the knee is a huge red flag. He's the last viable 4-3 end on the board in the next round or so, so Bowers goes soon. But no one's trading up to get him and teams with needs at end are still passing.

Just catching up as I settle in for the next several hours.

Love the QB picks. Dalton to Cincy is solid, but Kaepernick to SF is perfect. I like him to do quite well there and could start Week 1 IMHO.

Wow, Akeem Ayers to the Titans. Thought he might go to a 3-4 team, but the Titans like to rotate athletic players at end.
I love this guy!!!! Jene, do you see him playing OLB or defensive end? Great pick, we needed more athleticism on defense for sure.

Not unless they run the pistol. Bad move by SF if Kaepernick starts week 1.

I think defensive end. I think he's a better fit there and the Tennessee has free agents they may not re-sign, Morgan coming off the ACL and love to rotate lots of active bodies there. No question that Bowers has the brightest of red flags on his chart now.

i think Harbaugh grabs a vet once free agency opens up. The Niners should win their conference with just average QB play. I still like Kaepernick though, but he will need to be groomed

I just cannot believe Mallett is still on the board .... he had really big numbers in the SEC for 2 seasons, cannon for an arm, accurate ... NOT mobile but dang are Dalton & Kaepernick REALLY better NFL QB prosects?

I don't think so ....

Its a pick that goes very well with Phil Taylor and Taylor could form a very strong defensive tackle wall where Ahtyba Rubin is more of the penetrator/3 tech guy.

Sheard is a good addition for the Browns for sure, needed pass rush punch something fierce. Weird that the Raiders are getting something out of Wimbley that the Browns couldn't.

Bloom, do you think Alex Smith will be kept around and "hold the seat warm" for him until he's more ready?I don't see much in front of him, so I think it's reasonable to think that he starts Week 1.

Has to be the off-the-field issues.

I think there was a report that Smith wouldn't sign with them if they took a QB early, but I still think SF might want Smith more than anyone else. If only they hadn't traded Hill.

RYAN WILLIAMS !!!1111Hokies Represent!Love the pick for the Cards. Move him up your draft boards.
I've already been pimping this guy in the Survivor league threads, welcome to the bandwagon I started Pasquino.Williams has more upside than any other RB in this draft, and even from last year's draft for that matter.Could be a homerun type of pick.
