Staffers are late getting stuff in since the Magazine took a while.

But as a general rule, take any talk of target dates on this site with a big grain of salt. But, I'm just a shmuck who reads the boards, I don't work for them or anything.

Dodds' estimate was May 8 or 9. I said June 1, and it looks like my guess is the closer one to the real one. Bruce said the 14th, I believe, so he's got a few more days until my date beats his too.

The staff is conspicuous by their absence and silence on the subject. Someone should step up with a big fat mea culpa and revise the target date. Keeping customers in the dark and uninformed is much worse than missing target dates.

That's cool and all, like I said in another thread, it doesn't matter to me when it actually comes out. The only issue I have is that a date is given then casually missed, and it seems to happen a lot here. IIRC, the most common complaint in the complaint thread was that stuff is always late. If the people in charge were just up front and honest with their assessments, and said "June 1" right off the bat, customers wouldn't be agitated. They understand to a degree what goes into things. When Dodds said May 9th, it seemed as if he kind of had an idea where things stood. Missing that date by weeks makes it look like he doesn't know what's going on.

For those of us with upcoming drafts, it sure would be nice to know when we'll have this. If it's not going to be out, I've got a TON of spreadsheet work to do. That's the biggest issue for me, just GIVE ME A DATE!!! If it's 2 weeks, fine - I'll look at other options. But if it's tomorrow, then I don't want to go down another path.

Personally, I don't know why anyone in a redraft league would draft this early, anyway. Why not wait until a couple preseason games are played? We wait until after the third game in our redraft league. And DD is always out with plenty of time to mock to my heart's content.

When new projections and waiver lists are out on Thursday instead of Tuesday, people ask "why not move waivers later"... It's not really the answer, and I'm not sure why so many people are apologists for FBG. It's like the people who say "So what if they all got the projections wrong, what do you expect?"... well, we're all paying for a product here. Whatever. They should just have been upfront about it, or send it out now and let it auto-update.(if Bruce isn't done with DD, then, as a programmer I'm sure he could have estimated a ballpark figure of when he's going to be done with the new features.)

Sorry you misinterpreted my post- I was not 'apologizing' for anyone. I don't understand why each year the eagerness to get DD starts turning into venomous attacks on FBG's 'professionalism'. They release it 3 months prior to the season, and two months prior to what I'd consider draft season. I don't see a problem with that. Of course, opinions vary.And as for 'moving the draft', we drafted after the third week long before I knew FBG existed. It simply makes sense- wait until the position battles sort themselves out and the injury bug does its damage. Again, I was not offering that as a remedy to the perception of lateness by FBG. I've heard this song and dance by many shark poolers for three years now, yet for the past two (and I think even prior to that) its been obvious that DD doesn't come out until after Memorial Day. That said, I agree, if that is the pattern, FBG should match the intent with the reality. As I said in the beginning of my post.

First I want flat out to say I love the site.Second, I don't have a care in the world when DD is out as long as it's before August. July is nice, june is icing.But the problem only comes up with folks here when a date is tossed out. I think people would be happier if FBG erred on the side of caution and either didn't give a date ahead of time, or hedged their bets and aimed for June up front.Announcing a solid date then missing it gets hopes up, then dashes them, which irritates your (paying) client base. Better to name a later date and make it, then push it (ala Microsoft) and miss it. And if you do get done early you can either fine tune it with the extra time OR get it out early and be a hero.Again, I'm not worried and don't care too much when it is out -- but this seems to be a problem every year and the same discussion happens. So just aim for June - it seems to be the best way to keep people happy.Just my .02.

Right, and sorry if I misinterpreted your post, Shorn. Myself, I draft in late August as well, so like I said, I don't care when it gets released. The problem is just as stated above, people get their hopes up when even a tentative schedule is released. In my experience on this site, the same pattern holds with the weekly information as well. The template every week says stuff like "Tuesday: waiver wire picks" and "Wednesday: Weekly projections", yet these often aren't released unitl midday Thursday. After a few weeks they should just admit they can't deliever on the expected dates and just move the items to a reasonable time.My experience on the boards, though, is that anyone who criticizes this place is shot down pretty quick.

... I thought you can. Wasn't that the point of PD? If you click "get latest projections" in PD, tweak if you want, save projections, you can import the file into DD.

Right, gotcha. Well that's the issue. DD and PD need to be released for this season with an updated player pool. The mechanics of the program need to be able to reference Adrian Peterson, Brady Quinn, etc. The 2006 DD and PD don't have those guys and will throw tons of errors.It'd be nice if an updated player pool and a simple DD could get sent out as a beta release, sure. I agree with that, and save all the improvements for the next version. I'm all in favor of that.
