While I do like the idea of Cutler here, it's gotta be Michael Huff.

Those are the only two in the debate.

Here's their defensive backfield in total

LCB - Bryant Fernando/ Wilson Stanley

SS - -Kennedy Kenoy/Bashir Idrees

FS - Holt Terrence/McGraw Jon/Fox Vernon

RCB - Bly Dre/Smith Keith

If it's not Huff they should just shutter the place.

Exactly. McCown/Kitna/King/Orlovsky etc. will suffice at QB for now.

I don't know about Huff. If Marinelli stays true to the Tampa 2 scheme, then saftey is one of least important positions on D. No reflection on Huff, just on D philosophy. They can pick up a servicable S like Blue in the 3rd. My money is on Bunkley, who is ultra quick and strong and get pressure up the middle.

Edited to add I know Huff has and can play corner. Can he project as a shut down corner type in the NFL, which is what he should be at this pick. I don't know.

That's a good point, but with Rogers and Shaun Cody, DT isn't a huge need. If there were a DE worth taking here, I could lean that way, but I don't see it.

As a Lions fan, I'd love to see a deal with Denver, where the Broncos move up and Detroit can land Kiwanuka at the right spot. Or other teams would work too, just seems Denver would be more likely to trade up than others.

Then flip a coin between Huff and JWill. Regardless, where need meets value at this pick it results in the defensive backfield.

I like Huff a lot, but don't see him as a true shut down corner. I might be mixing my defenses, but in this system, does a CB need to be a true shut down corner?

I can see Williams. If Cromartie doesn't get hurt that would be a great fit.

As far as I understand it (which admittedly isn't very much) the answer is no. But regardless of system, this team needs some playmakers, and Huff is at the top of that list, IMO.

Not really. Although Monte played more man to man in Tampa last year than he has in recent memory. It's a nice luxury to have and gives you more flexibility, for sure

I like Huff here but, Millens Idea of BPA could mean Cutler, need or not.

I thought D. Johnson was the BPA and player of need last year and they take M. Williams.

I say Huff or trade down and take J.Williams or E. Sims.

Knowing what we know now about Charles Rogers, I think we need to give Millen a little slack for the Mike Williams pick. But no slack for the actual Charles Rogers pick. The warning signs were apparently quite obvious.

I agree that Huff is a playmaker. Not sure if he'd stay at FS or play CB here, but the flexibility is great.Obviously we'd like a shut down guy if everything else is equal.

There was a lot of talk yesterday about KC's defense and that they need to pressure the QB, not rely on a shut down CB. I thought the Lions system would be similar in that regard.

If we could vote to trade down, I'd vote that way, as it is, Huff's the guy here.

Yep. Although MW was supposed to be a great player too.I want Kiwanuka if they trade down.
