We have a redraft league that has returning owners each year. We set the draft order randomly each year. Some have suggested to set it based on last year's results - worst team from last year first.

How do you do it?

If you do it by standings, how would you do it if you have a 10 team league and you have a 3-4 owner turnover each year? Where would the new owners go?

Do yourself and the league a favor, just do random every year.... especially if there is alot of turnover in the league. If you insist on doing the order based on last year's standings do just blindly say "ok you finished first, you get first pick". Instead, have a draft of draft picks... meaning whoever finished first gets to pick where he wants to draft from and so on...-TH

:goodposting:  Or at least something to that effect...

I think it has to be random
Curious... why do you feel this way? We determine order based on last years performance and it works well for us. We have a draft of draft picks with the winner of the toilet bowl choosing first and going through the losers bracket and then backwards for the top half of the league. Draft order is 7,8,9,10,11,12,5,6,4,3,2,1. This helps keep everyone interested towards the end of the season and through playoffs. Otherwise people quit when they're out of the playoff chase. We don't have much turnover but if we do then they just have to draft last after everyone else.

We have a 12 team redraft. Every year before this we did random but now this year we are having the six that dont make the playoffs compete the the toilet bowl trophey which gives you the rights to whatever pick you want the next year. Different but it gives people something to play for.

 This is what we do and what I was trying to explain although I think I did a #### job of it.

12 team league, we've only replaced two owners in the last 5 years from guys that previously split teams. we use the reverse of the previous year's standings (winner picks 12th), has worked fine for us, though I do see that is some disincentive for bad teams to win late in the year.
