Wanted to get some thoughts on this, since there is a difference of opinions in my league (10 teams).
This year, we have moved to a keeper model where you can keep 0, 1, or 2 players, and forfeit 0, 1st, and 2nd round picks.
Example:
Team A keeps nobody and retains all his picks
Team B keeps Player X and forfeits his 1st round pick
Team C keeps Player Y and Player Z and forfeits his 1st and 2nd round picks.
We also have a worst to first serpentine draft order.
The problem, as I see it, is that it "costs less" for a better team to forfeit his 1st round pick to keep a player.
If Team 9 (2nd place last year) keeps a player, then his "1st selection" is 2.2, where if Team 3 (8th place last year) keeps a player, his "first selection" is 2.8. Seems unfair, right?
One option would be to have the 1st two rounds not be serpentine, which would give advantage to worst teams from last year.
Another option would be to leave serpentine intact, which would give advantage to best teams from last year.
Yet another option would be to reverse the 2nd round order for only those who kept one player, forfeiting their 1st round pick. This would keep the worst-to-first intact for those with 1 keeper, and everybody else would keep their normal draft spot. Only problem is it's a bit complicated.
Anybody else have this issue? Any suggestions out there?
Anyone have a similar situation? If so, how did you handle it?
TIA
