Draft Strategy for 12 team league? (1 Viewer)

Whats the best strategy for a 12 team league that has the following roster format:

2 QB

2 RB

4 WR

2 TE

2 DEF

2 K

I was thinking of going something like this, and drafting second and third tier QBs in the later rounds:

1st pick - RB

2nd pick - WR

3rd pick - RB

4th pick - WR

5th pick - TE

6th pick - QB

After the 6th round, take the best players available at the positions I need.

Last year, I think I took kickers and DEF too early, so I'm going to leave those to the later rounds.

Thoughts, suggestions?

You are thinking to much.

It's a dynamic process, don't lock yourself into a strategy now because, come draft day, nothing will go the way you think it will today.

Are there any wrinkles, like fixed roster spots, can't draft more than X at a position? If no wrinkles, you do want to be one of the first to own 2 QBs (and also one of the first with 3). See my article on the reasoning for not picking handcuff / combo QBs.

With 14 starters, the bench / roster size becomes crucial. If it is tiny, then you're almost pigeon-holed to pick certain positions. If that's the case (say in the extreme - no bench) you can sluff the 3rd/4th WRs and pick D and K, knowing that at worst you have the 47th and 48th WRs on your list.

Overall generality here - first with 2 QB and first with 3, RBs are important, #1 WR important, PPR is a factor regarding TE and WR2,3.

15 wr = qb = rb even points per game

20 wr > qb > rb one point differences per game

25 wr > rb > qb two point differences per game

30 wr > rb > qb two + differences per game

The above table are the stats for the last two years or our 2qb league, starting 2rb,3wr, 1te,1 flex (rb,wr), 2d, 1k.

All Td are 6pts;1per 20 passing, 1per 10 running; 1ppr.

the top 15 of each position, wr,rb,qb average the same amount of pts.

the top 20 of each position outscore the other as listed above.

the top 30 of each position outscore the other as listed above.

I post this for your info. Hoping to use it in mid and later rounds to make picks. Looks like the top 20 qbs should be taken first since they drop off in points more quickly. More adequate wrs should be available later.
