Draft Strategy (1 Viewer)

The league I was in last year started 2 QBs and 2 Defenses. How should this effect my picking order? How early do I take the #1s?

Anyone else have advice?
Just can't understand why anybody would play in 2 QB leagues. They make no sense to me, but obviously you have to place more of a premium on QB2 than RB2. I'd spenjd the first four rounds getting 2 QB's and 2 RB's.

I've played in one, and it was a fun, unpredictable draft. That's why people do it - for fun and to get out of the RRWWWQ rut of the first six rounds.

We start 1Q/1R/2W/1T and 1 R/W/T flex and 1 Q/R/W/T flex. And for QB we use Team QB in that league, 12 teams, only allowed 2 TQBs on a roster max.

A number of teams took advantage of being able to start a 2nd QB and it went quite well. As far as draft strategy, use VDB and pick accordingly. Obviously you can't flex the spot like our league, where VDB is even more important, but that will help you draft the right position through the draft.

Also, if this is the first year the league does 2 QBs (wasn't clear), you may find some people overvalue QBs and you have to pick earlier, or the flip - people don't quite get the value offered, and a good one will slide. Basically, you have to know your leaguemates (and their drafting strategies) to know which way this will go.

Anyone else have advice?
Yes. Come up with some numbers that represent how you feel the players will do. Enter them into the VBD app and enter your league parameters. Check the results to see where player's compare across positions. If you aren't familiar with VBD, go find Joe's article(s) on it in the archives. Then use that as a tool to help you figure out what decisions in each round will lead you to the group of players who will score the most for you while having the most upside and bench depth.

We had an 11 team league that starts 2 QB, 2 RB, 4 WR, 2 TE, 2 K, 2 DEF/ST. Is VERY heavy on defensive scoring.

Was very fund drafting and playing.

Here were the 1st 4 rounds:

Pick Selection

1.01 Manning, Peyton IND QB

1.02 Tomlinson, Ladainian SDC RB

1.03 Alexander, Shaun SEA RB

1.04 McNabb, Donovan PHI QB

1.05 James, Edgerrin ARI RB

1.06 Holmes, Priest KCC RB

1.07 McAllister, Deuce NOS RB

1.08 Culpepper, Daunte MIA QB

1.09 Portis, Clinton WAS RB

1.10 McGahee, Willis BUF RB

1.11 Owens, Terrell DAL WR

2.01 Moss, Randy OAK WR

2.02 Lewis, Jamal BAL RB

2.03 Barber, Tiki NYG RB

2.04 Davis, Domanick HOU RB

2.05 Dillon, Corey NEP RB

2.06 Holt, Torry STL WR

2.07 Jones, Kevin DET RB

2.08 Jones, Julius DAL RB

2.09 Harrison, Marvin IND WR

2.10 Johnson, Chad CIN WR

2.11 Gonzalez, Tony KCC TE

3.01 Horn, Joe NOS WR

3.02 Gates, Antonio SDC TE

3.03 Bell, Tatum DEN RB

3.04 Johnson, Rudi CIN RB

3.05 Walker, Javon GBP WR

3.06 Green, Ahman GBP RB

3.07 Martin, Curtis NYJ RB

3.08 Westbrook, Brian PHI RB

3.09 Bulger, Marc STL QB

3.10 Vick, Michael ATL QB

3.11 Jackson, Steven STL RB

4.01 Collins, Kerry FA QB

4.02 Wayne, Reggie IND WR

4.03 Burleson, Nate SEA WR

4.04 Johnson, Andre HOU WR

4.05 Williams, Roy DET WR

4.06 Ravens, Baltimore BAL Def

4.07 Smith, Steve CAR WR

4.08 Witten, Jason DAL TE

4.09 Green, Trent KCC QB

4.10 Jackson, Darrell SEA WR

4.11 Crumpler, Alge ATL TE

My Conclusion:

Adding the 4th WR affected the draft more than 2nd QB. Those of us who wait on Qbs or go QBBC still did. I am one of those. I got Bledsoe in the 15th and Eli Manning the 16th.

My advice is to still wait and take QBs after everyone else.

With that DEF scoring, I would wait on those too.

Fill up RBs and WRs in first 5 rounds.

how did this format workout for you? Could you send me the link to your site? Also, if anyone else is in a league that starts 2qb's, please provide link so i could take a look.

TIA

What are your other starting line-up reqs?

We went to the seemingly weird 2 QB, 2 RB, 4 WR, 2 TE, 2 K, 2 DEF/ST

just to manage the supply-and-demand aspect but was based on 10 and then got one extra returning who thought they would not.

Much on roster size depends on how much a league favors drafting vs. playing the wire. I confess I am more on the draft than the wire, so I like big roster size.

I proposed 26 for this league but 22 was what they decided.

I like one bench spot per starter spot but am the minority.
