Drafting two starting WRs from the same team (1 Viewer)

What do you think?

I'm not sure I did the right thing, but I couldn't pass up the chance to grab the Arizona duo of L-Fitz and Boldin.

12 team redraft league (1QB, 1RB, 1WR, 1TE, 3 W/R FLEX, K, 3IDP). Since there is no PPR and you can play 4 RB's, they are at a premium. As expected, the RB's flew off the board. Manning and Holt were the only non-RBs taken in the first 2 rounds.

I was picking 11th and was ecstatic to get Rudi Johnson at 1.11 and McGahee at 2.2. All the decent RBs, including the so-called sleepers (Portis, A. Green, etc.) were gone by the time I picked at 3.11, so I grabbed J. Lewis and then L. Fitz at 4.2. At that point, the starting RBs were gone and there were still some good WRs on the board. I figured I'd take another WR in the 5th. I was a pick away from getting TJ Housh, but when my pick came up there was Boldin.....sitting there at the end of the 5th. I hesitated on the pick, but he was the BPA and a decent value at that spot. I went ahead a pulled the trigger on him ahead of Andre Johnson and Donald Driver. I reached for Lendale White at 6.2, but that's the nature of this league. I couldn't pass up another potential starting RB, even if he is in a RBBC situation.

I don't thinks it's bad a buddy in my league last year had Harrison and Wayne last year and every other game one of them was producing big numbers he mad soem npise in the playoffs. I have Cooley and Santana Moss on one of my teams and I like the idea of it.

They're both pretty consistent, so I'm hoping for a combined 175yds and 1.5 TD per game (about 20pts in this league). As long as they stay healthy, I think I'll be okay. At worst, I could use one of them as trade bait. Of course, I'd probably trade the wrong one. It all depends on how well the RBs perform. That 3rd flex spot can make or break you in this league...

I would never draft 2 from a team. I also would never draft a RB and TE from same team. Your putting all your eggs in 1 basket. Though I don't see anything wrong with the hookup.. Like Manning/Harrison.. As long as its a solid QB/WR..

I know what you're saying and there is a definite risk there. Ideally, handcuffing the QB with a stud RB from the same team would produce even better results. In the scenario you alluded to (QB/WR) you miss out if the other WR catches the TD. In this scenario, while I don't have the QB, I would probably end up with 75% of the TD's thrown by Leinart (18 total TDs if he throws 25). Add 2000-2200 yards to that and you're looking at decent production from the WR1/WR2 spots. Granted, you can't do this with most teams, but this is one of the combinations that has the potential to work out well. Indy and Cincy are the two others that come to mind...

These threads emerge multiple times every August, and despite what many people think, having two wide receivers from the same team actually makes your fantasy squad more consistent, not less consistent.

Two WRs from same team

QB/RB and RB/WR pairings

The key to making this a successful strategy is that the two WRs must both be top 15 caliber. Drafting Coles and Cotchery may make you more consistent than drafting Braylon Edwards and Chris Chambers, but in either case, you figure to have low-producing WRs. But it can pay off if you get a top pair of WRs, like Harrison/Wayne, Chad Johnson/Houshmandzadeh, or Fitzgerald/Boldin.

Similar logic applies to the other pairings as well.

:football: Missed a chance to pair Wayne with Harrison last night. Took Roy W instead of Reggie.

If you think Roy will have the better 2007, it was the right choice. Consistency isn't everything. Your team may end up slightly less consistent, but if your high weeks come when they are needed, it may end up that this decision made the difference in a good way.

LT and Antonio Gates are more than welcome to join my team.
:hifive: As are Portis and Cooley, Gore and VD, and if a value McGahee and Heap. With the WRs, I would only want the duo if I trusted the QB to produce each week. So I don't like the AZ combo but I like Indy, Detroit and Cincy.
