Dre Bly 2007 = Darrent Williams 2006? (1 Viewer)

Can we expect Dre Bly to put up similar numbers then D.williams in 2007.

Will his numbers be greater...lower?

I think Bly has better ball skills then Williams....and with teams continuing to throw away Bailey... I think he will see the most balls thrown his way in his career...giving him a chance to make a lot of big plays.

What numbers are people expecting from Bly?

Cornerback targets for 2007 (via KC Joyner)Champ Bailey 65 (4.1/gm)Darrent Williams 73 (5.3/gm)Dre Bly 83We can debate the validity and the meaning of the distribution above, but offenses do not necessarily throw away from the team's best corner. It depends on the coverage called and the quality of the surrounding casts. Champ Bailey still gets tested deep and the Broncos played a lot of Cover-2 in recent seasons, which helped result in the distribution. Teams will still throw at the better corner if that corner is covering that team's top receiver or if the matchup on the other side isn't any better (mediocre corner on a crappy WR2).I would agree that Dre Bly is a better man cover corner than Williams. It's also possible that the distribution will be skewed more in Bly's favor than Williams' because of the increase in man coverage the Broncos will play in 2007. Williams did have four interceptions last year; Bly could improve on that but it won't be a slam dunk that he'll make six or seven picks. And Bly won't be anywhere near the player Williams was in run support. Differences in skill set and scheme make it extremely unlikely Bly will approach the 70 plus solos Williams made in 2006.So...while Bly is probably a solid option in CB specific leagues, he isn't unlikely to scream up the charts in standard leagues. Buyer beware.
