Great clip!Yeah, Daunte was a good choiceI'm so glad the Dolphins never tried to get this guy.![]()
Seriously, though, every team in the league had the opportunity to get this guy and passed because of shoulder surgery. I'm betting there's quite a few GMs who wish they had a time machine. If only they could see the future. Are you suggesting they should ignore injuries when doling out millions to free agents?Yeah, Daunte was a good choiceI'm so glad the Dolphins never tried to get this guy.![]()

Olympic archers shoot from much further back (70m), and perfect ends are not uncommon. That being said, Brees is awesome. That was impressive.I would think that, before seeing this, most would have bet an olympic archer would hit the bullseye more.
True. The thing he has going for him, as pointed out in the video, is that his release angle and the balls RPMs are the same every time he throws. There's only one way to be that consistent, and it's nonstop practice. Sure, talent helps. But guys don't get that consistent without putting in the time. Kind of like a golf swing in some ways.:( Great clip!I saw that Pro Bowl competition that came down to Manning and Brees and Brees wiped the floor with Manning. Like Cal Bear said, a lot more to it than stationary target practice but if you look at the short highlight clips interspersed you see that Brees is throwing to a spot where only the receiver can catch it. Great precision. I would imagine if you imagine you are throwing to a stationary spot and anticipating when the ball should hit that spot, you come out a winner. It's still an added skill, but related in some way.
Really? Are you sure?Nice bit. There's a lot more to being a QB than being able to hit a stationary target with no rush, but his accuracy is still extremely impressive.
Didn't they ignore Daunte's three torn knee ligaments when they traded a second round pick for him? Yes, Brees wanted to be paid like a franchise QB, but if you look at the contract NO gave him, really the only guaranteed money was a $10 million signing bonus. He had a roster bonus in year two, but if his shoulder injury proved incurable, then they could've cut him. A pretty small amount to gamble when you look at rookie contracts. Brees was still young at the time too.Like you said, hindsight is 20/20If only they could see the future.
