Drew Brees is more acurate than an World class archer (1 Viewer)

Is Brees impressive? Yes. Is this show highly misleading? Yes. I bet I'm more accurate at hitting a target at 5 yards than Brees is at 20 yards, which is the comparison he gets to the archers. Wait, kind of hard to beat 100% isn't it.

It is impressive, but they leave out the fact that olympic archers shoot from 70 meters away.
This. I bowhunt and am far from "olympic caliber" but I could drop 10/10 arrows in the yellow at 20 yards. 70 meters is about 76 yards....let's see how many brees puts dead center if he's chucking it 3/4 the length of the field.

You are also using a bow.

and a much more arrow dynamic projectile.....I'm sure they adjusted the distance to make it more realistic.

I want to see any other QB hit the 4.5" center of that target 10 out of 10 times at 20 yards. Comparing an archer and a QB is comparing apples to oranges regardless of the distances. Brees hitting 10/10 is extremely impressive. I would bet every other NFL QB would fall short of 10/10.

Yeah, they leave out the fact that the archers are farther back. I couldn't figure out why they'd be so bad. Any decent bow hunter only shoots about 2 arrows at a time (in succession without either removing the arrows or switching targets) from 20 or even 30 yards for fear of "robin hooding" the first arrows (destroying the first arrows by hitting them).

Actually the gold is in watching Josh McCown clank clunkers from the same distance. Also the stat about how the 2 wobbles in 5 spins of a spiral throwing a ball off by 5 yards is interesting.

Small, small, small margin for error.

fixedNo doubt that what Brees does is impressive. But saying he's more accurate than an archer is just silly.

Drew would be almost as accurate on a target in motion, too, which is probably better than an archer could do from the same distance.

Brees was amazingly consistent and he did a damn good job on that, but having been a bow hunter and shot in both inside tournaments at 20yards and outside tournaments from 20ft to 80 yards, hitting ten bullseyes from 20 yards isn't that tough. My tournament shooting was in barebow format, which meant no sights. You use a leather tab that has stitches on it. You use those stitches to raise or lower your drawback point on the string to elevate the bow. It wasn't that hard. Still for all the mechanics of throwing a football, I was impressed with Brees.

hmmm, judging from the shadows on that football field, they might have been showing the same 2-3 throws over and over. Watch closely.

As a bowhunter and former competitive shooter, it's a horrible comparison. But, him being able to hit that rate of accuracy is is pretty damn impressive.

It was too convenient of them to leave out the 70m the olympic guys are shooting.
