Drew Brees Owners: What's your plan? (1 Viewer)

Really in a tough spot with this situation. Lost Dalton last week so I didn't even have another QB on the roster.

I picked up Cousins to play against my Eagles, unfortunately that's the Saturday night game. I also grabbed Osweiller, who I don't really want to start but he plays Monday night so I can wait for final word on Brees' status.

It's a keeper league and this is my 6th year with Brees. Would hate to watch him blow up on my bench more than anything, but I feel like with the way Payton is talking the smart move is probably starting Cousins on Saturday.

Just wanted to see what everyone else's plans are. 4pm start time for Brees certainly doesn't help.

Picked up Bridgewater vs NYG Sunday night game. If Brees can't go thats my plan. I'm not at all confident though. Lol praying Brees plays.

You're right that the 4 p.m. start for game time doesn't help. However,Sean Payton said in yesterday's press conference that he would announce the starter on Sunday Morning. That would allow Brees owners to make alternate plans in the 1 p.m. games. You're going to want to follow the Saints' beat reporters and probably Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport. on Twitter. Then again, Rap was the guy that said that Brees would miss multiple weeks with the rotator cuff injury and he only missed 1.

Brees was brilliant even with the injury in the 2nd half on MNF. I have a suspicion that he will play. Drew Brees counts $30 million against the cap in 2016; I can't see the Saints honoring that contract given that they're in full rebuild mode. This may be the last home game of the Payton-Brees era. I think Drew will want to play and go out with a bang. But if he doesn't play, downgrade all Saints players, especially Brandin Cooks. You do NOT want to start Matt Flynn.

Picked up Bridgewater vs NYG Sunday night game. If Brees can't go thats my plan. I'm not at all confident though. Lol praying Brees plays.

Start 2 QB league, same situation. Cutler and Bridgewater the only viable FA QBs so I grabbed Bridgewater playing Sunday night so at least I can wait until gametime to see Brees' status. Probably will roll Bridgewater if there is any question on Brees being able to last the game.

Peyton is my only QB behind Brees. Only Qb on waivers wire that I can wait and see about Brees is McCarron at Denver and don't want that matchup.

I am either going to deal Brees and some 2nd round picks for Stafford or possibly deal Brees and a very late 1st for Brady

Luckily Bridgewater against the Giants is a great matchup for him.

At the moment I'm leaning towards waiting and seeing what his status is Sunday. I don't wanna have to root for Cousins, and if I'm forced to start Brock at least I'll have him and DT playing on MNF to try and catch me up.

After all, my team name is SUCK BREES NUTZ. How could I not start him if he plays?

I'm also following but as a Cooks owner. If Brees doesn't go is it Flynn or Grayson and who is benching Cooks if the case?

Saints coach Sean Payton said Drew Brees (foot) will be "very limited" if he is able to practice Thursday.

Payton was not too forthcoming about Brees' status Thursday, but the quarterback having a chance to practice is at least a sliver of good news. Considering Payton has refused to announce a starting quarterback, Brees' status will likely be in limbo all the way until inactives are announced Sunday. At this point, Brees should be considered extremely questionable. Matt Flynn or rookie Garrett Grayson will start if Brees cannot play.

Hopefully the fact that they're even talking about practicing is a good sign...
