Drew Brees? (1 Viewer)

2 consecutive games of no TD's and less then 200 yards.....

Elite QB's don't perform like this!

He was a lot of people first round pick and I'm sure he is killing some of us now....He plays the G-Men his first game back from bye....

Will we be talking about a 3rd game with no production?

the saints are looking great on both sides of the ball. very exciting to watch. the stats may not show it but brees is an elite qb, hes the reason they are running the ball so well. given their schedule coming up after the buy, you might want to get used to it. with the d and running game clicking like it is, he's not gonna have to pass to win games. if they get out to a big lead like they have the past couple of weeks, expect to see alot of thomas/bush/bell.

I thought Payton was a coach who liked to pass a lot. I'm sure Brees will still finish amongst the top, can't expect 4 touchdowns every week.

this is the time to STRIKE!!!!!

2 bad performances and he is on a bye....

You could get him probably cheap for a qb that isnt on bye with some gaudy numbers....

After 4 weeks, Brees is on pace for 4124/36/8. Maybe the yards are a little low, but I'd say that's a good year.

After 2 weeks Brees was on pace for 5352/72/16. Unless you expected those numbers, he was do to have some lesser games to even things out. That's just the way it happens for players that start out like Brees did the 1st 2 weeks.

the big drop off is disconcerting, but Brees is still the #3 QB in my leagues. Behind Peyton which shouldn't be a shock and Flacco which is somewhat.

I had Brees benched in favor of Cutler. The Jets have a solid pass defense and the Saints D helped enable an early lead so Brees didn't have to air it out. Brees will be fine long term, but might not achieve last years numbers since the Saints D is much better than last year.

The point is to discuss FF Player valuations and that's what he did (albeit in a bit of a sarcastic way). Brees and the passing game were victim's of circumstance yesterday. Not only was he facing a top 3 NFL defense, the Saints D scored two themselves and the running game was having success. Brees simply didn't have to throw the football yesterday. Bottom line = Relax. Better days are coming.

As I said to all the people who claim that Del Rio likes to run a lot....95% of all coaches like to run a lot. When you have terrible defenses, coaches pass a lot. When you have great defenses, coaches run a lot. There's not much more to it than that.Peyton liked to pass a lot because he had an All-Pro QB, great WRs, great receiving RBs and TEs (but bad rushing and blocking RBs/TEs) and an awful defense. Duh. Now that they've got a very good looking D and are running effectively, Peyton will like to pass much less frequently.Normally, though, that won't kill Brees' stats. Some days his D will give him short fields all day and he'll score boatloads of TDs. Other days, his running game will keep drives alive and he'll throw for a score instead of watching NO settle for a FG. Sometimes, though, his D and his RB will score all the TDs. That's what happened yesterday.

But can we at least expect 1 a week? Cuz right now it seems a bit too much to ask!

:X Drew Brees was a FF players dream when the Saints could not run the ball and could not stop anyone. The bottom line is Saints will not go to a SuperBowl with Brees passing 50+ times a game. The Saints are a much improved overall team. The Saints being a better football team may not translate into better FF numbers for Brees though.

Agreed. I love Knobs' all-or-nothing statement that back-to-back worthless weeks is normal from a mega stud because one cannot expect 4 TD weeks every week. Really? Did anyone really expect Brees to throw 4 TDs a week? I doubt anyone who owns Brees is upset because he didn't throw 4 TDs last week or the week before.

"JuSt Cuz" dont you follow the Saints closely? I thought you were in the who dat nation because if you were you wouldnt need to ask this question. The answer lies in two places the main one being Sean Payton trusts his defense now where as before he knew he had to put up a ton of points and fast. If you watched the game you know that in the 4th quarter the Saints could have possibly scored two more times but instead opted to run clock and finally take a knee on the Jets 5 yard line with it 1st and goal to win the game. Never did I get a sense that the Saints were in trouble and needed to put up points because of the outstanding defensive play. I believe that Payton kept the play calling favoring the run and short safe passing because he didnt want to risk putting the defense in a bad position when the game was well in control. Payton also respected the Jets defense although I think Brees could have lit up the Jets for two more scores if he needed to. This is my opinion but its a damn good one. I hope you got big returns for that Brees trade because I expect the Giants to put up considerably more points than the Jets did and Brees will have to wing it in that game. Good luck.

Dude, I LOVE ME SOME BREES......But I am discussing fantasy...he has a much improved team yes....But 2 games in a row no TDs is alarming for Fantasy owners!

3-4-NYJ 16 (8:15) (Shotgun) D.Brees pass incomplete deep left to R.Bush (K.Rhodes).

3-1-NYJ 1 (9:58) D.Brees pass incomplete short right to J.Shockey.

4-1-NYJ 1 (9:52) D.Brees pass incomplete short right to J.Nesbit (B.Thomas).

1-10-NYJ 12 (7:06) D.Brees pass short right to H.Evans to NYJ 1 for 11 yards (J.Leonhard).

If any one of the above plays had turned out just a bit different, would this thread have even been posted?

My point is in both this game and the week before Brees was very close to having multiple TDs. This despite NO not having to be overly aggressive in playcalling. Brees will make more of those plays than not. Relax. Nothing has fundamentally changed. Just a couple of miscues on key plays and the situation not dictating airing it out.
