Drew Carter (1 Viewer)

He went from WR45 to WR58, yet he had more targets this week -- 6 to last week's 3. Sure, he got 2 TDs last week and no RZ targets this week, but that's obviously because Smith was breaking coverage. With most teams doubling Smith, Delhomme will be targeting Carter more. He appears to be the clear #2 in Carolina. Are the rankings based primarily on fantasy points scored?

The problem is that he isn't the clear #2 WR there. #2 in production thus far, sure, but Colbert is still starting ahead of him, and getting a few more targets (8 for Colbert in Week 2)

I'm not sure either - I think he is clearly the best option besides Smith. Just like every other FF ranking, they seem to chase last weeks stats.

I think most of Carter's value comes from a potential Steve Smith injury. This is an offense with a lot of success in recent seasons at the WR#1 position. And Drew Carter is really the only breakout candidate on that roster if Smith was to go down.

Meanwhile, Smith is going to continue to get his 10-15 targets each game and put up 100/1 on most occasions while Carter fights for his position. Colbert is splitting time now. Jarrett will probably split some time later in the season. And Carolina has been passing to their TE for the first time in years. And this doesn't even address the fact that Carolina has 2 RBs that they could decide to feature in any given game to the tune of 30-40 carries. In that instance, Carter could be putting up a goose egg in any given week.

His drop in ranking speaks from his inconsistency IMO. The 2 TDs were a flukish even if he did show talent on those plays.

Good info here.

I don't think the TDs were flukish, but rather a result of what happens when Smith is covered. And you know Smith's going to be getting a lot more double coverage.Things to consider:It's been reported that Carter is faster than Smith.Carter's in that magical third year.Carter looks good -- better than Colbert.Smith will be double teamed a lot.

Carters main problem is he doesn't use his hands well to catch the ball. He let's it get into his body too much and has a lot of drops because of it.

What is the point differential between WRs 45 & 58?

ETA: In my league it works out to between 1-1.5 points per week.
