Drop Vilma for Farrior? (1 Viewer)

Thanks for your reply Tick. And, while I'm not sure about "Zealots scoring," what I do know is Vilma isn't what he was last season (i.e., different defensive scheme). And, he seems to be hit or miss (and, quite frankly...more miss this year). In my scoring system, Farrior is actually ranked higher. Statistically too. And, after today, it only gets worse as Farrior put up 8 solos and a FF, compared to Vilma's three measly solos. So, I'm back to asking...time to cut my losses with Vilma?

I was more than a bit chagrined that Farrior would be available as a top 20 scoring LB in your league. I think the two are evenly matched, but is this a start ONE LB league, or what? Makes no sense.... which is why I didn't have much to say in the first place. Not looking to pick on your league, but it seems pretty wierd to me.
Actually, other than the IDP's it's a pretty savvy league. Just seems that some of the owners don't put as much emphasis in their defensive players as they do their offensive players. I agree he shouldn't be on the wire, which is why I'm trying to justify the move. To answer your question more specifically, it's a 10 teamer, H2H, non-keeper, and we are obligated to start 3 IDP (DL, LB OR DB). And, I almost always roster and play LB's exclusively. I'd appreciate any more input anyone has, as I'm still on the fence. BTW...if I had any roster flexibility at all, I'd simply cut someone else to roster Farrior until I could decide Vilma's fate. But, I just don't. So, it's really one or the other at this point. Thanks in advance to anyone else that cares to give their opinion.Rovers said:

If there's that kind of quality out there, and you're comfortable that the other 2 LB's you have are better than both these guys, look at matchups down the stretch and make your choice that way.

FWIW, I just dropped him for Brandon Moore. It's a bit of a risk/reward pick but I just can't stand Vilma's inconsistency anymore.
vilma is ranked 23rd in my league(2pts/tackle 1/asst 3pts/sack) with 132.50pointshe has only had 2 single digit weeks(8 and 9 pts) he is an entire 1 tackle/game from being the #8 LB in my league...while i sure would like to see more 20+ point games from him I dont think he is doing as poorly as some think he is, but that is just my opinionoh and fwiw...this scheme was supposed to hurt him and it does seem like it has but look at it this way...if vilma were to log just 2 more tackles/game(not all that unheard of) then he would be the #2 LB in the league...so for as much as the system seems to have hurt him he is still very close to being where he was last yr
I wanna thank everyone for their opinions. I decided to go ahead and waive another player to pick up Farrior. I just couldn't leave Farrior on the wire (he shouldn't have been there in the first place), but I couldn't find it in myself to cut Vilma either.
The player I cut BTW was Gado (I picked him up Sunday after his strong second half, and I have Lundy). But, I'm fairly deep at RB (S. Jax, R. Brown, Henry, Droughns, Jones-Drew, Norwood and the aforementioned Lundy).
Now, my IDP looks like this: R. Lewis, Bulluck, D. Edwards, Farrior and Vilma.
I'm happy with my decision, and again just want to thank those that took the time to share their thoughts and opinions with me. I'll definitely return the favor given the opportunity.

Vilma's tied for 23rd in my league as well. Our scoring is 1 pt per tackle, .5 per assist, 2 points per sack, 2 points per INT, 1 pt per pass defensed, 1 pt per FF/FR. We start, 2 LB, 2 DB and 1 DL/LB/DB flex, so I usually start 3 LB's.Vilma's tackle numbers have been OK, but he's not really making any other plays. After reading Jene and Rover's assessments of how he's playing in the new scheme and his difficulty shedding blocks to make more plays I just couldn't take it anymore, since he was hardly starting for me aside for BYE weeks since I've got Urlacher, Bart Scott, Kirk Morrison regularly starting for me. In the game's Brandon Moore's been starting he's acquitted himself quite well. Getting 7 solos and sacks. Heck in his limited PT Moore's got more sacks than Vilma. As much as it hurt to drop Vilma (since he was one of my early IDP picks), he wasn't producing as well as my other LB's were and I like the fact that the SF D is usually on the field more giving Moore more opportunity to make plays.In hindsight I probably should have read the Vilma threads here prior to the draft and avoided taking him that early period.
