Dropping Mahomes in a Keeper 2QB league? (1 Viewer)

I'm in a 10 team, PPR, 2QB keeper league. No round penalty for keeping guys.

We keep 4 this year, 3 next year then back to 4 (and ascending to 6 before descending back to 3) and can keep guys forever if we want.

Right now, my keeper options are:

  • Mahomes
  • CeeDee Lamb
  • Brock Bowers
  • Breece Hall
  • Tyreek Hill
  • James Cook
I'm kind of buying into the Tyreek hype and am tempted to go with Lamb, Hall, Bowers, and Hill. Mahomes has been middling the past few years, and I'm tempted to toss him back and keep the position players. Is this ridiculous in a 2QB league? Also, next year, when I have to cut it down to 3, I really think that Mahomes is the odd man out anyway.

Yes, it is ridiculous. You going into a 2 QB league with no QB's frozen when it's likely the other 9 teams will have 15-18 frozen QB's is not smart.

Now, if your league doesn't hoard QB's in it's freezes and only 5-10 are kept then maybe you can get away with it. But if that is the case then the first round and a half will probably all be QB's and you will be stuck again.

I keep Mahomes, Lamb, and Hall for sure. That last spot is up for grabs. Is it TE premium? Do you have to start a TE? If the answer is no to those then I probably keep Hill over Bowers. If it is the first one then definitely keep Bowers. If it's not premium and you have to start a TE then I would base it on how many TE's usually get kept.

Yeah Mahomes is washed.

;)

Seriously this is overthink time especially in a 2QB league. Was expecting you to have like Burrow or Allen as your other QB with the thread title. Don't let him go

keep you must

This is the answer and even if you are buying a Hill resurrection then drop Hall.
In a keep forever there is no way you keep Hill over Hall.
I could kind of see someone that says "well now that Jeanty is in town and the QB situation is better so Bowers won't have the same success he had last year..." and maybe but I think he's a still a better long term keeper than Hill, who is a hammy/tua injury away from irrelevance. and then for next year, if he moves on from Mahomes, then he can keep Lamb, Bowers and Hall.

I totally agree with this. My original comment was all about what to do if you really wanted to keep Hill.....but I wouldn't be of that opinion.

I get where you’re coming from-Mahomes hasn’t been as flashy lately, and those skill players have big upside. In a 2QB league, QBs do matter a lot, but if you feel like your other keepers give you a stronger overall lineup, dropping him isn’t crazy. Just keep in mind how thin QB options might be on the waivers next year when you have to cut down
