Maybe I'd do one if I wasn't so busy.

Just wanted to start a convo on Defenses for week 8.

Usually you could pick the weaklings and say talk up the matchup, but with St. Louis vs Detroit, it seems like a wash. I don't like consulting packaged lists. I was interested in what you the shark pool think about the relative matchups and who you like this week.

All due to respect to FBGs, I tend to get more out of these thread topics than expert ranknings/tables.

See, I don't understand why people say this. For one, it doesn't make sense. There is no "o" after the "v", so that makes it incorrect to begin with. If you don't have time for the whole word, or you can only afford two syllables at that point, then the right way to shorten it would be to, have a "conver". And why not go a step further and have a "conv"? That's what I'd do.When/where did this start anyway? I'm thinking Beverly Hills coffee house; or a Hamptons party.

I'm going with Az and SD in my leagz.

Philly - I like this D, but short week against tough division rival. I expect more of a shootout. #1 DST in my FF league so far.

Miami - I like them as a bye week filler on the road in the meadowlands. I'm not convinced that Sanchez can throw in that wind and cold. Also, they lost Leon. Would be a good to start either team, as I think it will be low scoring.

New Orleans - at home Monday Night. Will they bring the playoff atmosphere like they did against the G-men?? Will the Falcons bounce back after getting shellacked by the Cowboys?

I agree on Arizona. I just picked them up. A couple others:

- Dallas should really dominate the line of scrimmage against SEA and get tons of sacks

- MIA @ NYJ could be good - MIA matches up well.

- SD will be on some waivers and they get OAK at home

- Lions are a sneaky play against STL, though I could see S-Jax leading to a few STL scores

I love Indy this week vs San Fran. New QB in SF, Indy run D is strong. Gore will be miserable. Looks like a possible rout.

WW work for defenses this week is long since over. I am picking up Cinci for weeks ahead, where available. They have a nice 3-game stretch ahead @OAK, then home against CLE and DET. Even the game before that stretch, at Pitt, looks good on Gray's SOS...although I won't start them there. They're obviously playing well too, so I see some blowout points as well.Then, they finish in W16 against hapless KC.

I am not seeing many good D's in any leagues anymore, they've all been scooped. With a bye this week, and matchups against Balt and Pitt after that, they might be around. Good pickup.

WW this week my choices were HOU, DET and JAX. I went HOU vs BUF hoping Fitz will throw a few INT's to fill in for NYG who've been struggling lately and play PHI in PHI...

was debating DET (and with Stafford and CJ looking like they will play.. I might switch at the last minute. DET had a boatload of sacks on GB the other week and I think STL O line is a lot worse).

I don't trust JAX but it seems like they're a good play vs TEN...

Other choices are no way (ATL vs NO, CAR vs AZ, TEN vs JAX, OAK vs SD, STL vs DET and CLE vs CHI). I'd take SD or AZ as my top choices if they were out there...

don't see it happening. I don't think it will be 24-3 or 56-0. SOmewhere inbetween, obviously, however both teams will be offensive(no pun intended) and neither D is going to pay off much...

I picked up the Lions in a couple of leagues:1) they ARE playing the Lambs (sure SJax may score but more interested in fumbles, int and sacks)2) Detroit has scored 9+ points in three of their six games, so they can generate some points

Like 'em a lot, and having to carry two picked them up after Minn. Pretty cool platooning between the #1 & #3 defenses each week with my league scoring. Got lucky and played NO over the Vikes last week with their two scores. If they're on the wire, I do like that Cincy schedule. Not so sure about Detroit--but historically they've been good for return scores, especially in their house.

Tampa is on bye, so can't take advantage of them this week. Plus the the other two teams that define "the suck" play each other. I own New Orleans DST, and am playing them this week over my #1 rated Philly DST. I am wafflling a little on this, since Philly is at home. But they had a short week to prepare for the G-Men, and New Orleans is in prime time in the dome.

If you can afford to stash 2 defenses, the combination of New Orleans and Seattle are strong plays the rest of the way starting next week.

Week 9: Detroit @ Seattle

Week 10: New Orleans @ St. Louis

Week 11: New Orleans @ Tampa Bay

Week 12: Seattle @ St. Louis

Week 13: New Orleans @ Washington

Week 14: (the one bad week) - New Orleans @ Atlanta or Seattle @ Houston

Week 15: Tampa Bay @ Seattle

Week 16: Tampa Bay @ New Orleans

In all, 3X Tampa Bay, 2X St. Louis, 1X Detroit, 1X Washington....good plays for 7/8 weeks
