Dumbest picks you've seen in your drafts this year (1 Viewer)

I had my last draft tonight. Local league with some guys that really didn't have a clue. There were three idiotic picks tonight.

1. One dude took Rodgers in the 3rd round and then took Brady in the 5th.

2. #1 was bad, but not as bad as someone taking..... Willis McGahee as his 2nd RB.

3. Someone took Welker as their #1 WR and Decker as their #2.

Sad to say, but I'm not making any of this up.

I can top that

1 dude took Peyton in the 4th, Brady in 5th then took RG3 in the 7th and called them "value" picks. In the FFPC no trade league.

So then I get in another draft and Peyton falls to me in the 6th and I think wow I got to take this....no other QBs go until 9th round....Brady, Newton, ect all go in 9th...like really ?

I just got punked.

That is pretty bad. I guess I was so bitter because I was ready to get Brady... My team is already pretty loaded, but it would have been close to unbeatable (at least on paper) had i been able to nab Brady. Oh, and the dude that took McGahee was talking smack when someone picked Antonio Brown. lol

In all of my leagues this year the owners of Mccoy, Rice, Foster and Spiller have taken someone elses handcuff while theirs was still on the board; two of these drafts took place at the height of the Foster injury concern.

I took Kenbrell in the 5th round of a keep two league, making him essentially a 7th round pick - might prove to be the worst pick this year.

Just normal bad pick stuff:

-Bradshaw gone as a guys RB1 in the 2nd round (15th overall)
-Roethlisberger taken with Stafford still on the board
-In an auction league, I managed to run a guy up to 5% of his budget on the Seattle D, he then blew another 3% on the Niners D - I got the Bears and Pats for a combined 1%
-In a 40 round dynasty startup a guy took recently retired Ryan Swope in the 23rd round.

The guy who kept rg3 picked Kaep before having his rb2 te or wr3. Or maybe I am just bitter because it caused a domino effect screwing me into Vick and Dalton instead of Wilson.

The McGahee pick reminds me of a guy a number of years back who took Terell Davis in the 2nd round a week after he retired.

This year not many. Guy took Mendenhall in the 5th ahead of Bernard, Sproles, Murray, MAtthews, DMC, Ball, Bradshaw, Dwill, Bell, etc. Not too bad but a bit of a reach.

Another guy in my 2QB league had 4th pick. With options like Brady and Ryan on the board (Rodgers, Brees, Manning all gone) he took Kaepernick. Ballsy but could pay off if Kaep lives up to the hype. I wouldn't have done it.

Dynasty startup - Latavius Murray in 11th AFTER he is already on IR for year. Taken ahead of Pierce, Britt, Patterson, Eiffert, Finley, Wright, Floyd

- Dwyer in 13th AFTER being cut. Taken ahead of Hillman, J Hunter, Wheaton, Tannehill, Freeman, K. Allen, Randle

Holy Cow! I am getting upset all over again. I think I am getting hives....

This must be this years "drafting with guppies" thread. Can't wait for the weekly updates of all these winning teams from the posters above.

In a 16 teamer somebody took E.J. Manuel as his QB1. Two rounds later he took Vick (not a bad idea, but it gets better). A few rounds later he decides he decides to handcuff him with Foles. When somebody informs him he now has 3 QBs with the same bye week, he burns his next pick on Geno Smith. This is a start one QB league, and seeing a guy grab four lousy ones in seven rounds was a like Leroy Nieman touching up the Sistine Chapel. Instant classic, I was laughing so hard tears streaming.

Local league, redraft PPR 1st pick Calvin, 2nd pick Arian Foster 3rd pick Russell Wilson 4th pick Peterson.

I live in Seattle so there is some expected homerism, however someone in one league took Wilson as the #7 overall pick in a redraft. I love Wilson but I wouldn't take him as the 7th QB, let alone the 7th overall pick.

The guy who drafted jimmy graham decided he needed 3 TEs on his 14-player team.
Wait....is this one of the guys in my league? I drafted Graham in the 3rd round......then took Cook and Cameron in the 11th and 12th rounds. I did it for four reasons....1) By this time in the draft, I already filled each position (other than defense and kicker) with a backup at each position. 2) We can use TE's as a flex. 3) These two TEs had more upside than the WRs and RBs available. 4) My buddy was the only person who had not drafted a TE yet and was going to wait until the bitter end to pick one of these two guys up.....he didn't think anyone was going to take anymore at this position. BTW...we have 18 roster spots....start 8 off, 3 IDP.

So yeah....it was mostly number 4. Now he is pissed and will not trade for one of them. He ended up with Sudfeld....Not bad, but I'm hoping he throws up a dud in week 1 so I can unload one of these guys. I could use the extra roster spot.

Two things...1st the other guys team was 14 man rosters where as you have 18, so 3 TE out of 14 when you have graham seems bizzarre. 2nd, your league allows TE as flex, so that makes a lot more sense.

Dynasty start up; Coby Fleener at Round 3 pick 12.

Live in-person draft, out here in Saigon. Colin Kaepernick with pick 2.04. The top 12 QBs were all gone by round six.

I had pick 1 and went AP/Julio/Demaryius/Lacy/L.Miller/Shorts/Nelson and settled for Vick in the 9th and Dalton in the 13th at QB. 4 pts per TD pass, -1 for ints.

In one of my leagues we had an open spot this year so one of our guys got his 20 something year old son to play. For two weeks he posted crap on the league message board about how he was gonna show us old-timers how its done. Kid gets the 12th pick and opens up with Bress and D. Thomas. His dad is telling him he has to get runningbacks on the next 2 picks. He tells him he knows what he's doing. He does get two back next, I think Murray and Micheal Turner . He is now not a very happy boy. So in our league its a rule that once you say a players name he is on your team. No expections. A couple rounds pass with nothing special and the kid is up. His next two picks are Pitta and Maclin..............His dad looks at him and says "thanks for the money son"

We have a winner.

Someone drafted Micheal Crabtree in the 5th round and after others were chuckling asked "is he out for the year?" He's in my division, needless to say I should win both games.

12 team redraft with about 1/2 sharks and 1/2 average to below average players.

pick 26 - LeVeon Bell (not necessarily dumbest, but way too early with the injury)
pick 98 - Dennis Pitta
pick 143 - Danario Alexander

Someone took E.J. Manuel with pick #3 in a 10-team dynasty rookie draft I just did. Typical 1-QB league. If E.J. Manuel is the next Newton, Luck, Griffin, Kaepernick, or Wilson, then when we look back on it we probably won't think anything of it... but if he really wanted Manuel, he easily could have traded back quite some way.

His other QBs are Vick, Freeman, Bradford, Weeden, and Locker. Bad, but not so bad that Manuel is much (if any) of an upgrade.

First year in a work league. A Pats fan took Sudfeld in the 2nd rd.

/thread

ETA: Yes, this is a money league.

12 team redraft 250 buyin, have to pay for moves. Guy takes maclin as his wr3 in the 8th round. .. whoops

I am in a keep 2 league (can only keep 1 player per position), 12 teams, start 1/2/3/1. Rounds 1 and 2 are for keepers. One team kept nobody, so he gets to make picks in rounds 1 and 2, so he has the first pick. Spiller, McCoy, Dez, Julio, DT and Graham are all available.

He picks Manning.

Saw L. Bell go at 3.01, clearly missed the injury news.

Mendy at 5.03, not horrible I suppose but pretty bad.

Sea D at 7.09, WTF that is early!

Stephen Jackson at 1.9 ahead of Richardson, McCoy, Spiller, Morris, and Forte.

Welker 5th WR off the board.

Luck 5th QB taken, at 3.1.

Defenses started going in the 11th and kickers in the 12th of an 18 round draft. Guys were taking kickers and defenses ahead of Bryce Brown, Jordan Cameron, etc. Nuts.

Same guy took:

Thompkins in the 5th

Matt Asiata in the 12th (yeah I have no clue who that is either)

Knile Davis in the 13th

Zach Miller in the 14th (as his starting TE)

beat that

In my league...

1. One guy grabs Peyton Manning in the 2nd, then grabs RGIII in the 6th.

2. Jason Witten in round 4, ahead of Gronkowski.

3. 3 defenses off the board by the middle of round 7.

4. Kellen Davis being drafted.
