We all have our vices, preferences, and peccadillos. I happen to like apple fritters from Dunkin' Donuts. Worth a try if you haven't had one, but they are not available at all locations. What I don't get is the brain trust behind the following.
At the DD down the street, they actually carry apple fritters. They make them pretty regularly. However . . .
1) They are not on the menu and there are no signs or pictures of them anywhere inside the building.
2) I have not seen any commercials, promos, ads, or mention of them in their marketing spots or advertising.
3) They are not put out on display.
4) The employees don't know they carry them.
5) The employees don't even know what they are.
6) The employees don't even know where they keep them.
7) Apparently there is no key on the register to ring them up.
When I go in, I go through the same song and dance each time. They don't know what an apple fritter is. They don't carry them. I must be confused, as they've never made apple fritters. Then lo and behold a manger overhears the conversation and goes and gets me one from the back somewhere.
The kicker in all of this is that the manager says they may stop carrying them because they are not big sellers and at the end of the day they throw most of them away. Brilliant!
