Dunn to run less, Norwood more?

Warrick Dunn, RB ATL

News: In a Q&A on SIRIUS Satellite Radio, Falcons player personnel executive Billy Devaney told Pat Kirwan that the Falcons were aiming to limit Warrick Dunn's carries in the second half of the season, giving more to rookie Jerious Norwood. Devaney pointed out that Dunn is 32 and cannot take on too much physical work without getting banged up, so Norwood would get some of his reps.

Analysis: Fantasy owners are advised to believe this when they see it. Dunn remains Atlanta's starter and primary running back, so Fantasy owners shouldn't have any concerns. However, don't be surprised if Norwood's reps start to increase and Dunn's level off. For now, Dunn remains a very startable Fantasy RB while Norwood is at best a No. 3 option in a very deep league. Owners of Dunn should have Norwood on staff anyway.

I think that is good news for Dunn owners. It will keep him fresh and less nicked up. This wont be a RBBC just giving Dunn less reps to keep him fresh

I just love these kinds of lines. What kind of roster size do they think most of us are dealing with? How are we supposed to handcuff every guy we own?

I think there are guys that should be handcuffed and guys that should not be. There are some very good backups that if the starter was hurt they would be a good replacement for your team. Norwood, Turner, M. Barber, Jacobs etc.

I thought I read somewhere that Mora said something similar LAST week. Norwood didn't get many carries last week.
What would be refreshing would be the following quote, "Even though I would like to get the back-up more carries, once the game begins I really forget about anything but winning that game." or "The back-up gets like one series per half. If we go three and out both times then he is SOL"

He hasn't gotten many carries at all this season (his high is 10) but he almost always does a lot with what he is given. Other than the Giants game, his season low yards per carry is 5. Pretty impressive, IMO.

Seriously, so when I draft Tiki, Westbrook, and Dunn, I'm supposed to reserve three draft picks for Jacobs, Buckhalter, and Norwood?I hope the change doesn't happen today, because my opponent is actually starting Norwood against me.

I don't know about Buck, but for the rest...absolutely. I have LJ, Dunn, Gore, and Green at RB. I have no faith in any of LJ's backups, but I do have Norwood and Herron on my roster. Also have Leon and MoJo Drew. I only have to play 1 WR. Nice to have 3 flex positions and 9 bench spots. :D

my RBs are

LT/Turner

Dunn

Ronnie Brown

Droughns

After this week, would you trade Droughns for Norwood? I'd be set with my RBs, even if Ronnie Brown went down, I have enough WRs to play in the flex

Caveat emptor, but YES, you are. Those guys will be FAR, FAR more valuable to you throughout a season than all of the Wali Lundys and Leon Washingtons of the world. Not NEARLY as much FUN having them on your roster, but especially with smaller backs or guys seemingly ALWAYS on the injury report (Westbrook), you simply GOTTA back them up.

usually these sort of comments refers to the back up getting a few more carries per game than before. or, in other words, 10-15 touches rather than the 5-10. it still equates to 15-20 touches for dunn and maybe more if he can get into the passing game more...

I am honestly considering benching Dunn, even with the good match-up against Detroit this week. He had the good match-up against Cinn last week and didn't do too much. The additional carries by Norwood plus Vick's new throwing bonanza has me looking elsewhere.

I also have Norwood. Has anyone considered starting both Norwood and Dunn? A couple weeks it's been worth it (against the right match-up) and this game with Detroit may be one of those.
