Panthers' Williams Returns to Practice

Email this Story

Oct 25, 1:15 PM (ET)

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -Carolina Panthers rookie running back DeAngelo Williams practiced Wednesday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Dallas.

Williams hadn't played or practiced since spraining his right ankle against Cleveland on Oct. 8.

"He looked good," coach John Fox said. "We'll see how feels toward the end of the week."

Williams' return could give a boost to the Panthers ground game. Carolina ran the ball only 16 times for 60 yards in its 17-14 loss to Cincinnati last Sunday. No. 1 running back DeShaun Foster had 59 yards on 14 carries.

Williams' return to practice meant no players sat out with injuries Wednesday. Linebacker Thomas Davis is the only other player listed as questionable. He missed the Bengals loss with bruised ribs.

Cornerback Ken Lucas, who left Sunday's game with a hip injury, practiced and is listed as probable.

hopefully hes gets some PT in this week and be back in full force for week 10 after the bye week. Staring to regret drafting him in my re-draft league hoping he can change my mind in the last few weeks in the season since foster really hasn't been great.

Is this heading back toward RBBC or does anybody see Williams taking the job by Thanksgiving, just in time for the FF playoffs?

I've only watched one full Panthers game (vs. the Bungles last week). I wasn't very impressed with Foster. I'm interested to hear from people that have watched them all (including the preseason).

How is DeAngelo's all-around game? How is his pass blocking? Is he even ready to be an every down back if the team wanted/needed to go that way?

DWilly was not even playing when healthy.
:goodposting: Deshaun owner and I'm much more worried about Fox getting the ground game going than DWilliams!
What if both of these are the same thing?
100 rushing attempts, 410 yards in Foster's last 5 games (since S.Smith came back). The problem last week wasn't Foster. He was averaging 4.2ypc. They just stopped running the ball. He only had 14 attempts.

DWill missed practice today.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams missed practice Thursday, a day after returning to the field following a sprained right ankle.

Williams, the Panthers first-round draft pick, remains questionable for Sunday's game against Dallas.

"We just follow what the medical people say," coach John Fox said. "We meet on that every day, and that's the direction we went today."

Williams, who had been serving as the No. 2 running back behind DeShaun Foster, was injured against Cleveland on Oct. 8 and has missed the past two games.

Linebacker Thomas Davis, who missed last Sunday's loss in Cincinnati with bruised ribs, practiced for the second straight day Thursday and remains questionable.
