After the points that Tebow and Vick put up this year, you might want to revise that. Locker is a great flier, late in round 2. If he pans out, you have a running QB who could give you a few points a game on the ground. Not suggesting he is as good as Tebow or Vick, but he can run. I don't remember the last time I drafted a QB in a rookie draft before round 3. But I will be looking very closely at where Newton and Locker go this year.

I am a big Tebow fan, based on his college days. But I would love to see what Locker would do with Mullen, Meyer, Harvin, Murhpy, Hernandez, Ingram and the lot in Florida. Locker seems to be an equal, if not better pro prospect than Tim was last season. I am not writing him off at all.

I drafted Bradford at the end of the 1st, he was clearly the BA. He's the only QB I've ever drafted in the 1st round and I'm thinking of drafting Luck at the same spot if he declares.

IMHO Ingram is #1 but a case can be made for AJ.

I think it all depends on where they go. Ingram seems to be falling in all of the mock drafts, but you never know what that could mean. I doubt teams are going to overlook what he did last year, because he was injured this year. If teams ever felt he was a top 20 pick, he will still be, I have to believe. If he is a top 20 pick, I think he is the clear #1 in non-PPR leagues. I know that if AJ goes to Cleveland and Jones goes to SD, NE, or STL, I am taking Jones over Jones.Jones over Green.

That SI mock draft is weak to say the least. I know its a "mock" but the draft won't look anything like that. His reasoning for some of the picks like "to piss of Vincent Jackson" is a joke.

ESPN is reporting Luck has decided to return for his Junior season - who's our top fantasy QB prospect now?
Personally, I don't like any of the QBs this year. Newton is the only guy I would take a shot at on the off chance he can be a Roethlisberger type QB...
Mallet, Locker, etc... Not guys I see having a ton of success. Weird year in my mind for QBs. Tons of potential, but all of them could very easily be busts, unlike Bradford, RYan, Flacco, etc...they all looked like they would be decent for sure.

Cam Newton for me. I don't think he's a safe bet like Luck and I don't think he's even close to ready to start at the NFL level, but he has been totally dominant this season and he possesses the physical talent to be a top flight pro QB. The big question will be whether or not his pure passing skills can be developed to the level of an effective pro. I don't have the answer to that question. Newton gets by on sheer talent right now. When he's forced to stay in the pocket and make accurate throws under pressure, he might struggle. Still, his ceiling is so high that he warrants selection over the likes of Mallett and Locker.
He has the arm of Mike Vick with the running ability of Vince Young. He's bigger and stronger than both of them. If Vick and Young can be moderately successful pros solely on the basis of their raw talent then I think they might represent the worst case scenario for Newton (I'm talking about the Atlanta Vick, not the Philly reincarnation).

I agree. I have to think Newton is the top prospect at QB now (if he declares, which he likely will). His athleticism sets him apart from the other guys (except Locker, but most people believe he's regressed as a passer). In short, his ceiling is the difference.Not sure how high he will go, though. Much of it depends on the Combine, Pro Day, etc. (not to mention how he plays in the Bowl game).EBF said:

I think the Green-Jones-Blackmon trio is close enough in talent that situation will be the trump card. For example, if Blackmon went to STL and Green and Jones went to Cleveland and Seattle, Blackmon would easily be my #1. If the situations are relatively equal, I think he is the 3rd best WR out of that trio.

Will probably need to see his pure WR skills, as Troy moved him around a lot as playmaker more than pure WR. Really quick and has experience as a returner. Think he projects as a slot guy (not because he is not a starter) and KR. He is on short/small side so his speed numbers will matter greatly.

He had the leg injury at the end of the 2008 season. He was still recovering from that in 2009 (and his QB got hurt and was out for the season early on). He was dealing with another injury most of this season.I don't agree with earlier poster that he's "garbage", but, as I posted in another thread -- I was a college fantasy owner of him since he was a true freshman and have been watching him since then; I like his talent, but he has too many flags for me, and I'd probably pass on him in rookie drafts unless the value was right.

What I do like is the high rankings of Leshoure and Williams. I think both have talent that is closer to Ryan Mathews (last yrs 1.01) than many think.

I don't think Rogers is an every down player. They definitely need a #1 WR, but I wouldn't say they have too many good DL right now.

I'm with you. We need a WR no doubt, but I'm not spending that pick for one. I'd rather add a FA. Right now, I'm hoping Prince drops to us.

Newton is not too high at all. I would take him over Luck, if he was coming out. He is farther along than Tebow was, and we see the potential to put up points that running QBs have.I like Blackmon more than Baldwin, but I like the rest.

I think that is a decent comparison. Similar size/speed and both are primarily in between the tackles runners. Leshoure has better hands and I think a little more quickness and wiggle.
Newton is too much of a risk for a 1.06 pick. I agree with you on the upside though.

You could be right. I was more commenting on the fact that I think he should be the first QB taken. I just noticed Michael Floyd at #7. I think that is too high for him. Blackmon is looking like a first round pick, Baldwin seems to be a better prospect too.DansRams said:

He had another injury this year, which is part of the reason his stats were meh this year. Before his injury, his coach called him out for his attitude earlier this year (taking plays off, etc.).He does have great measurables though, and I can see some team pulling the trigger on him early in the NFL draft once he puts on a great show at the combine.

Madison – Wisconsin tailback John Clay appears poised to follow the path of teammate J.J. Watt.
According to a source, the fourth-year junior has decided to skip his final season of eligibility and enter the 2011 National Football League draft.
The standout from Racine Park High School was scheduled to discuss his options with the UW coaches Friday.
It is possible the UW staff could attempt to convince Clay that he could improve his draft stock by returning in 2011 and going through a full season without suffering any injuries.
However, Clay turned 23 on Tuesday and told the Journal Sentinel before the season that his age would be a factor in his eventual decision. In addition, he noted that running backs generally do not have long professional careers.
Clay was the Big Ten Conference offensive player of the year in 2009 when he rushed for 1,517 yards and 18 touchdowns.
He wasn’t in top physical condition at the beginning of the 2010 season after undergoing off-season surgery on both ankles and later missed 2 ½ games because of a knee injury.
Nevertheless, he rushed 187 times for 1,012 yards and 14 touchdowns and helped UW secure a share of its first league title since 1999. He was a second-team All-Big Ten pick and a third-team All-American according to The AP.
His best games came in consecutive weeks against Ohio State and Iowa.
Clay rushed 21 times for 104 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-18 victory over the Buckeyes, ranked No. 1 in both national polls at the time.
One week later he rushed 24 times for 91 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-30 victory at then-No. 12 Iowa.
Clay’s contributions over the last two seasons cannot be minimized but UW should be deep at tailback next season.
Montee Ball and James White are proven playmakers. Ball, who will be a junior next season, rushed 163 times for 996 yards and a team-high 18 touchdowns. White rushed 156 times for a team-high 1,052 yards and 14 touchdowns and was named the Big Ten freshman of the year.
The staff is high on Jeff Lewis, a Brookfield Central High School graduate who will be a redshirt freshman next season, and incoming freshman Melvin Gordon, from Kenosha Bradford.
Zach Brown, who redshirted this season and will be a senior next season, is also available.
