So 5 wr then? You can count on one hand the number of WRs on that list who will outproduce him.
That's what I meant. I would understand a later pick - they've only got 1 more year of Crowell (assuming they tender him) and 2 more years of Duke. They need to plan ahead, but to use a 1st on a running back would be pretty silly.they might....but not round 1
NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah believes Cal QB Davis Webb and Pitt QB Nathan Peterman could both be second round picks.
Specifically, Jeremiah used the phrase "wouldn't be shocked" when bringing up this outcome. This is a bit rich for us. Peterman and Webb both had their moments during Senior Bowl week, but we don't think either crack the top four passers in the NFL Draft or are second round talents in a vacuum. Rotoworld's Josh Norris spoke with a director of college scouting during East-West Shrine week who was interested in Peterman and liked the talent.

Wow, what an insult. One NFL scout compared Western Michigan WR Corey Davis to Jordan Matthews.
"Very reliable. Very productive," the scout said. "Could go in the first round, but he's really a second." We don't see this comparison from a few viewpoints. One, Matthews is solely a slot receiver at this point in his career, Davis has thrived on the outside and projects to that spot in the NFL. Second, Matthews is not the most reliable receiver in terms of drops. Perhaps the comparison was made based on size and post catch running ability.
The dumb teams will pass on him which is good for fantasy. Don't want him going to NYJ or BUF for instance. I see no way he isn't gone in the 1st round regardless of injury. Not doing events at the combine would really hurt Davis. A small school guy needs to compete next to the big school guys and prove that he doesn't look out of place. If he only has his pro day to impress teams, it could hurt his draft ceiling. And of course bring into question his measurables a bit. Of course it only takes one team to love him, and he'll still get to interview with teams and visit them.
Little voice in my head is wondering if he wants to sit on his season. First the shoulder injury knocks him out of the senior bowl. Now an ankle injury a month before the combine is likely to knock him out of that. He knows what he runs the 40 in, hes been timed many times by now. Maybe its not what scouts expect. Or maybe hes really hurt. Not doing events at the combine would really hurt Davis. A small school guy needs to compete next to the big school guys and prove that he doesn't look out of place. Agreed. I don't see him getting past the Eagles. The dumb teams will pass on him which is good for fantasy. Don't want him going to NYJ or BUF for instance. I see no way he isn't gone in the 1st round regardless of injury.
don't agree... the MAC is division one and the kid played in the Cotton bowl. They played several BIG10 teams out of conference as well. Don't think missing the combine will hurt him that much...Not doing events at the combine would really hurt Davis. Plus, combine numbers don't even really matter for WR.I doubt this is some conspiracy that Davis cooked up because he thinks he'll fail at the combine.
Going further back, some guy named Randy Moss did OK in the NFL for coming out of the MAC. His QB, Byron Leftwich was no slouch either...Snorkelson said:I doubt this is some conspiracy that Davis cooked up because he thinks he'll fail at the combine. He's not a LB from Notre Dame.....
There is a very good list of NFL players to come out of the MAC, while they may not challenge for national championships they have plenty of NFL caliber players.
Antonio Brown
Big Ben
Kahlil Mack
Joe Staley
Greg Jennings
Edelman
jason babin
James starks
doug free
michael turner
i know I'm hand picking guys here but this is just off the top of my head. Some people change a lot from high school thru college, you don't knock a guy because he wasn't recruited by a power conference 4 years ago.
Uh, calling Leftwich a slouch in the NFL would be generous.Going further back, some guy named Randy Moss did OK in the NFL for coming out of the MAC. His QB, Byron Leftwich was no slouch either...
Anyone who manages to stay employed in the NFL for 10 seasons is, in my book, ahead of the average. Even if his numbers were pedestrian over much of that time.Uh, calling Leftwich a slouch in the NFL would be generous.
He was a backup QB for the majority of that.Anyone who manages to stay employed in the NFL for 10 seasons is, in my book, ahead of the average. Even if his numbers were pedestrian over much of that time.
Better real NFL player than FF player.....Anyone who manages to stay employed in the NFL for 10 seasons is, in my book, ahead of the average. Even if his numbers were pedestrian over much of that time.
Shelter tweet said he had minor surgery. Regardless, would be a bit foolish for people to think he'd have been looking for an excuse to skip the combine IMO.Corey Davis, from what I have read, has a great work ethic so I doubt it's anything but a real injury.
So good that he got benched/cut before his rookie contract ended and was never given another starting job again.Better real NFL player than FF player.....
Wasn't Moss kicked out of 2 schools before he went to Marshall?Going further back, some guy named Randy Moss did OK in the NFL for coming out of the MAC. His QB, Byron Leftwich was no slouch either...
I've learned my lesson when it comes to guys that "have a great work ethic" when talking about a PROSPECT who isn't playing the game as a career quite yet. I've been burned a couple of times just in the last 3 years for what seemed to be guys whose work ethic was unquestioned. Now the ones that burned me might have failed to live up to the hype for other reasons, but I refuse to believe anyone has a great work ethic until they prove it to me as their full-time job in the NFL.Corey Davis, from what I have read, has a great work ethic so I doubt it's anything but a real injury.
Just curious who you got burned on. I've seen a lot of local coverage of Davis living in Michigan, so I'm hoping he slides a little so I have a shot at him. Injury doesn't scare me at all, I'm not drafting him based on rumored work ethic, I watch football and maybe the combine tweaks the list but shouldn't be as influential as it is.I've learned my lesson when it comes to guys that "have a great work ethic" when talking about a PROSPECT who isn't playing the game as a career quite yet. Abdullah (mostly due to injury but still) Marqise Lee, Agholor, and to a much lesser extent Justin Hardy and Storm Johnson. I'm sure people got burned by Sankey as well.Just curious who you got burned on. Lee and agholor were my predictions. Abdullah for sure, I don't think DET drafts a rb early, so he may get another chance. You never hear "yeah, he's physically gifted, but he's really lazy". Lee looked better last year. Agholor just doesn't look the part.Abdullah (mostly due to injury but still) Marqise Lee, Agholor, and to a much lesser extent Justin Hardy and Storm Johnson. I also got burned by Hardy. Not sure what the problem is with him but I'm guessing it's route running because he can catch the ball. Work ethic + skills is Davis. Sure their are guys with great work ethic but just can't cut it because they can't run routes or just don't have the speed or talent to be a top WR. I believe Davis has it all.I've learned my lesson when it comes to guys that "have a great work ethic" when talking about a PROSPECT who isn't playing the game as a career quite yet. Very interesting read and right on point with my thinking and thoughts of others on this board.
Mixon? Nothing invoking legal action, but a couple of anger moments - tearing up a parking citation in the officer's face, etc.Has he had other issues after punching the girl? I didn't look
Pro Football Focus analyst Jordan Plocher compared Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey's playing style to that of former Rams RB Marshall Faulk.
Plocher writes that McCaffrey's "playing style, high football IQ, vision & versatility" are reminiscent of Faulk, adding that the Stanford standout is "part RB/part WR." Golden words, for sure. A consensus as to just where McCaffrey will land in the draft does not yet appear to have coalesced, though. In December, an AFC personnel director predicted that the running back's grades "are going to be all over the place," depending on whether teams view him as a true bellcow or more of a complimentary option. We have seen several mock drafts which have him landing with the Patriots at the end of Round 1, but until we are further along in the process, such projections should be considered nothing more than speculative thought experiments.
