[Dynasty] 2017 Draft Prospects (3 Viewers)

Mike Williams - one of the biggest busts ever.  The #10 overall pick in 2005 draft (Matt Millen special).

To a lesser extent Marquise Lee, a 2nd round pick in 2014...after 2 mediocre seasons looked a little better this year.

Also, Nelson Agholar, a #1 pick (20 overall and a Chip Kelly special in 2015) has been very disappointing

Robert Woods, a 2nd-round pick in 2013 has also been disappointing.
Maybe these guys just were not good. Mike williams sat out a year and millen over spent.

I think lee showed flashes this past year.

Woods is a complementary player. Better nfl player than ffl player

Williams could have been great but he was lazy and just wanted $. He came back after his $ ran out and performed well in SEA but of course got lazy again and was gone.

That's where you have to dig into a guys attitude. Williams was able to fool the Lions. Some guys want it bad, others don't. Some guys think they can just skate by and keep getting paid.

3 guys that appear to be hard workers and Corey Davis, Taywan Taylor and Zay Jones. Also maybe John Ross.

It's harder to determine if a guy is lazy. It usually isn't exposed until after the draft mistake is made. I read where KD Cannon doesn't run full speed every play if it isn't going to him but I also read that the coach wants that so that when the play is called for him, he is fresh.

ESPN's Todd McShay tweeted the more he watches Pitt QB Nathan Peterman, the more he likes.
"Full field read. Fast eyes. Ball is out on time and perfect placement," McShay wrote with a video of a play from a clean pocket on an inside breaking route with good timing with a throw over top of a linebacker in coverage. Peterman is loved by a number of media evaluators, namely Lance Zierlein, and some have suggested a second round pick could be in his future.

One NFC Scouting Director told NFL.com's Lance Zierlein that Texas RB D'Onta Foreman's pass protection skills are "awful."
"Our coaches won't put him out there if they think he'll get the quarterback killed," the NFL personnel man said. There will be some disagreement with this statement, as Pro Football Focus charted Foreman with zero sacks in pass protection at some point this season. The truth is somewhere in the middle, and Texas' offensive style plays a big part. Many pass were off play action and were quick throws, either outside breaking routes versus off coverage or downfield shots. Foreman's pass pro reps do not tranlsate easily to many NFL offensee.

The MMQB's Peter King writes it "looks like (UNC QB Mitch) Trubisky or (Notre Dame QB Deshone) Kizer to me" for the Chicago Bears at pick No. 3.
King, however, offers another possibility in Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the second round or a possible trade back into the first round. It is interesting that no veteran was attached to the Bears by King, saying the team needs to "start over" at the position.

The Cowboys will likely select a defensive player at pick No. 28, but beat writer Vince Langford suggests WR is also a possibility.

Again, Langford believes the odds heavily favor the Cowboys selecting a defensive player "unless ... they see (John) Ross or (Zay) Jones as a singular talent and the edge rushers or DBs they truly like are gone before 28." The two players are quite different. Ross is a shorter speed receiver who plays off a vertical route and can break off routes to create separation. Jones plays mostly out of the slot and is better in the short to intermediate area.

I think we are missing the boat on ArDarius. I got a chance to go back and look at him, he's somewhere in the top 10 possibly to 5 WR. I can see his ADP rise after the draft and combine, I'd have no problem grabbing him at the end of the 1st to early 2nd.

Tex
I'm on board. Depending on where he goes he'll be one my my options at 16.

Was talking about Kamara as a sleeper a year+ ago. https://forums.footballguys.com/forum/topic/726357-dynasty-2016-draft-prospects/?page=16#comment-18340261

Seems like he might have flipped from underrated to overrated though.

He is good, but straight-liney. In the NFL, I think the ability to cut is stressed pretty heavily. Maybe the right system can turn Kamara into a DeMarco Murray type, but overall I wouldn't put him in the same class as somebody like Mixon from a talent standpoint.
Comparing him to Murray? In what way?

Tex

He's not being talked about at all. Is there something I'm missing?

Tex
I think Bama pedigree and good combine numbers will start to lead to some buzz. But yeah not sure why he's lost in the shuffle. Just watched some highlights and he's as dynamic on those quick WR motion runs as he is down the field. Seems like he'd excel in the NFL as complementary role in a Pats/Packers type offense. Actually see him as a Cobb/Edelman type.

Good question. Didn't even know he existed until now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1mzDv1ipn0 Highlight reel looks good. Catches with hands, fast, can run the ball as well. Even threw a nice pass.
At the beginning of these clips he seems to be running out of control a bit, but clearly very fast and able to create bad angles with his speed.

What happens at the 1:50 mark is just embarrassing tackling.

He gets a couple good blocks which are highlighted, helping his team mates score and finish plays. He can throw the ball alright also, the first one was pretty wobbly, but the second throw was pretty good.

He has the speed to beat defenders deep and he shows ability to track the ball over his shoulder and execute these types of plays. He also shows some good jumping ability and will come back for the ball if it is thrown behind him, catching it at the highest point and not allowing the defender to make a play on the ball. Has the speed to do well on bubble screens and misdirection plays.

I didn't really see him getting jammed or contested off the Los. You won't see that in a highlight reel. I also didn't see him running intermediate routes, so I wonder about that, but I have seen him be successful on the short stuff and the long throws.

I believe whem it comes to Alabama everyone has been focused on Ridley and in the process this guy is clearly being overlooked. The more games I watched the more he caught my eyes then I looked him up and what a surprise he's in this year's draft!

Giddy Up!

I know he wasn't a superstar, but Steve Smith (NYG) was on his way to being a very good NFL and fantasy WR before his injury.

Rotoworld's Josh Norris believes an easy connection can be made between Washington WR John Ross and the Eagles.
The Eagles will add a receiver in the draft, the question is when. Ross would fulfill a downfield, vertical element the team lacks, along with speed and big play skills. Ross, however, has an extensive injury history, with two meniscus, ACL and microfracture surgery in his past. Will that drop him out of the first round? Maybe, but consider him high on the Eagles list if Philadelphia does not bring Desean Jackson back.

John Ross says he ran 4.30 laser-timed 40-yard dash

Washington WR John Ross told the MMQB's Emily Kaplan he recently ran a 4.30 laser-timed forty while training for the NFL Combine.
That is fast. "You could argue he’s just an exceptional slot guy," one NFL evaluator told Kaplan. "But smart offenses will figure out ways to incorporate him everywhere." Ross did create big plays from anywhere, including as a kickoff returner. The obvious comparison is to Desean Jackson. Ross' medical history on both knees will be crucial, plus he has a shoulder surgery scheduled, but he is still ridiculously explosive after those injuries and surgeries in 2016.

Where I'd like to see guys I'm interested in, going:

Corey Davis - Philly
David Njoku - Dallas or Titans
OJ Howard - Dallas or Saints
Dalvin Cook - Indy
John Ross - SF because I think they get Cousins the following year.
Taywan Taylor - Bucs or Titans
Zay Jones - Bucs or Titans
Joe Mixon - Raiders
Mike Williams - SF if they don't get Ross
Evan Engram - Giants

Where I don't want any guys I'm interested going to: BUF, CLE, BAL, MIN, SEA, KC, NYJ, HOU, CAR

Wait, are you saying you are more interested in Zay Jones than Leonard Fournette or Christian McCaffery?

Also, while I agree with some of those landing spots being rough, why would a RB going to Carolina be a bad thing?

Tennessee RB Alvin Kamara and Vayner Sports have parted ways, and Kamara is currently without an agent, according to Liz Mullen.
It is always interesting when this type of news hits during draft season. Right now, prospects are preparing for the NFL Combine via training groups connected to agents. We have no idea what went on in this scenario, perhaps Kamara wants to pursue different agents. We have also seen prospects go through the process without representation. Kamara is generating buzz as a possible first round pick.

your list of bad teams seems silly 9/32....someone is going there, and things change fast...

I can 100% guarantee that Mixon will not go to the Raiders. The Raiders owner Mark Davis has a zero tolerance policy with anyone who hits women.

Someone is coming around.
They got a legit opening for a #2 and they throw enough to warrant his selection in FF.

I have picks 3, 6 & 12. Fournette will be gone before I pick. McCaffrey is tough to take early because he's white. He goes to a stupid team (and there are a lot of them) and he will get the Reggie Bush treatment.

sCam steals too many GL TDs. I had Eddie George once and it pissed me off how many TDs McNair stole. Then I had DeAngelo and the same thing happened once the clown arrived. He stole 23 TDs in 3 years time. #### that. Not going through that again. I'll let someone else deal with that. I got L. Bell and platoon Miller/Ingram at my #2 spot.
