Dynasty: Blackmon Is My #6 WR (1 Viewer)

The only WR's I have ahead of him are Calvin, Julio, Green, Dez and DT. For him to be producing like he is with Henne at QB you can't help but be excited about him having Bridgewater next year.

I've got:

Calvin

Julio

Dez

DT

Green

Cobb

Harvin

Blackmon

Cruz

Gordon

Marshall

Crabtree

I have Cobb right after Blackmon, very close but I give the edge to Blackmon because he can be a target hog. Harvin's injury history makes me not trust him long term and he's two years older than Blackmon. I only have Cruz behind Blackmon because of the 3+ year age difference.

After the Calvin, Julio, Green, Dez and DT tier there is an argument for a bunch of WR's at #6. I prefer Blackmon to anyone after the top 5, so we're on the same page.

The Henne thing is a catch-22. While on the one hand, it's likely that he could end up with a much better QB down the line, on the other hand it's unlikely that he'll ever end up with a QB that force-feeds him the ball anywhere close to the way Henne does.

When all is said in done, it could turn out that Henne was the perfect fantasy mix of serviceable QB with tunnel vision towards one guy.

One more substance abuse issue and he's done for a year, cut, and not likely to be trusted as an NFL WR1 again. If I ignore that, I can understand a top 5 or 6 ranking. Knowing that, I have to move others ahead of him - guys like Cobb, Cruz.

That is the key point.

After those guys you're sacrificing something. Talent, youth, durability, character, or some combination of the above.

I think Blackmon is in the mix with guys like Harvin, Gordon, Cruz, and Cobb.

I understand how excited people are about him, but Blackmon should be about on par with Hakeem Nicks at this point. Both are top end talents. Nicks has injury concerns, Blackmon has suspension concerns. Both are young enough that your horizon goes beyond any reasonable projections. Both are capable of being volume guys, and have stretches where they're dominant because they're getting the looks. Both of them have uncertainty and could end up in a different situation next year that could improve or hurt their value.

If you can get top 6 value for Blackmon, you absolutely should. Top 6 is probably the high end of how anyone currently rates him, and it's hard to imagine him moving up to #5 on the list (or getting any appreciable bump in trade value) so this is a great sell high opportunity. Right now, you could almost certainly get Nicks and another strong piece for him. I'm not suggesting that Nicks is the right guy to get, just that any time you can trade one guy for a very similar guy and getting another good piece, you just added a piece. And that's how you build strong, deep dynasty teams.

Think that top 5 is clear. After that I'm thinking Blackmon, Crabtree and maybe Gordon. As an athlete I think Gordon is more impressive than both. Big, strong, fast and very smooth. But I think Blackmon and Crabtree just have something special that doesn't show up in measurables. Just naturals.

I'm laughing as I say this, but I kind of wanted to punch you for this. Unreal. Good work.

Don't see how Nelson is not even mentioned here. I know this is about Blackmon and I'm a proud owner but Nelson is better than Cobb and Crab and it's not close.

I'm a big fan of Nelson but there's a 5 year difference in age.

Cobb is a FA in 2015. I think a lot of his value comes from being with Rodgers. Blackmon is doing what he's doing in Jacksonville. Would Cobb even be mentioned on this list if he was in Jacksonville? I don't think they should be so close in dynasty rankings.

I also agree with BigTex and fruity pebbles... if Cobb is being mentioned, Jordy should, too. IMO, Jordy is a better player and I could see him having a more transferable skill set should he get signed elsewhere in free agency.
