We will start our auction draft right after the NFL draft finishes. It will be a slow auction (email) hosted on MFL. I'm in the process of getting the MFL page set up and will send everyone an invite soon. I wanted to get out some of the details on how the draft will work and what the roster constraints will look like.
- Slow (email) auction - Each owner will be able to nominate 3 players at a time. Once one of those three players has been "signed" by an owner, the nominating owner will be able to put another one up for bid. So at any one time there should be 36 players up for bid. A player's auction will continue until there have been no bids for 12 hours for that player. I have enabled proxy bidding so you can put a max bid on the players you want (like ebay auctions).
- Each owner will sign a complete 30 man roster during the auction draft. Minimum bid is $1.00, bidding increment is $1.00. Ensure you plan accordingly. All 2017 NFL players will be included in the draft (veterans and rookies). You must also sign all players required to start week 1 (i.e. you must sign a kicker and a defense during the auction).
- “In-season” rosters consist of 25 players plus a 5 player taxi / IR squad. To be placed on the taxi squad, a player must be in his first year (rookie) year OR have an official assignment of “Suspended / Out / PUP / IRD or IR”. Owners have the flexibility to mix/match rookies / IR slots as they deem necessary throughout the season. One caveat is that once a rookie is placed on your 25 man roster, he may not return to the taxi squad. Each owner will assign players to their taxi squad before the kick-off of this year’s first game. FleaFlicker does not currently support the “taxi squad” concept, so we will use the “IR” spots for our Taxi. I’ve set the system to allow healthy players to be assigned to the IR slots (hence, you are able to assign rookies to IR). It’s the best solution for the problem that FF can support from a technological standpoint.
- A starting lineup will be (1) QB, (2) RB, (2) WR, (1) TE, (2) Flex – RB/WR/TE, (1) K & (1) Defense for a total of 10. The following lists the maximum by position an owner is allowed to carry on a roster: (4) QB, (15) RB, (15) WR, (5) TE, (3) K, (3) Defense.
- Once you draft a player, you must keep him until the auction is complete.
- After the auction is complete, I will transfer the results over to the FleaFlicker website. Once I have gotten everyone’s team in place and get confirmation of accuracy from all the owners, I’ll open up free agency and trading.
- I’ve tried to hit all the high points. I’m sure I’ve missed some things. Please post a comment if you have any questions / comments / concerns. Although I’m the commish, this is OUR league and I want everyone to have fun and buy-in to how the league is set-up.
