[DYNASTY] Is Kyle Rudolph overrated? (1 Viewer)

Gates was a stud TE that changed the position as a converted basketball player. I am not sure how it can be argued otherwise.

When did you determine Gates as a stud? Before his career started? Or after 5 seasons?

Gates wasn't really a "converted basketball player". He had football offers from Ohio State, Michigan, and Michigan State. Ultimately decided on Michigan State where Nick Saban was at the time. Yes, current Alabama HC Nick Saban. He wanted to play both football and basketball at Michigan State, but ultimately transferred and because Saban wouldn't allow him to play basketball where his real passion was.

Any OC would look like a TE guru with Gates, Davis, and Cameron on his CV. Those guys are elite top shelf talents.
Gates is an elite talent? Based on what? What were his measurables again?

Gates and Cameron weren't drafted in the top of the 1st round, therefore, they aren't elite talents. Eric Ebron is, though, despite not even playing a regular season game.

Any OC would look like a TE guru if they actually used their TEs. See: Gary Kubiak.
Antonio ran the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds, and his vertical leap was 39 inches.

Those figures were from a high school combine, which may be inflated and unreliable.

IMO the right way to look at this is to gauge the opportunity Rudolph will likely have in Norv's offense. Without having time to research it, my guess is that Norv's offenses tend to rank among the highest in TE targets. If so, that bodes well for Rudolph's opportunity. What he does with the opportunity is a different issue.

How many college football games did he play? Also, the fact that he was getting D1 offers in 2 sports really speaks to the kind of athlete he was. As for when I decided he was special? In 2004 when he destroyed the league and reinvented the TE position. I had never really seen him play before that.

http://m.espn.go.com/general/fantasy/story?storyId=11325926&src=desktopBasically, this compares Kubiak and Turner in terms of TE usage and differential from average TE fantasy production. In summary, both use the TEs more than the NFL average but Kubiak gets better fantasy production above the league average.
