Our dynasty league is entering it's 3rd year in 2009.
We've never had a cap on how many players teams can sign and some owners are starting to think that there won't be enough player turnover in the league in another year or 2. Obviously this is a dynasty league so keeping guys is part of the deal...but I also agree that there should be enough turnover to keep things fresh.
What rules do you guys use in your leagues?
I was thinking about keeping 5 guys max and no more than 2 from each position.
Thanks
Without any details it sounds like you're wanting to change from a dynasty to a keeper? Your current rules have no limit on the size of your roster? That will not work for obvious reasons. There are many flavors to choose from, just reach a consensus with your league mates and have a serious debate about the pros/cons of keeping more vs less players.I think a decent rule of thumb for dynasty is to have a roster size about 2x or more of your starting lineup.
yeah's that was my understanding of the OP.....and good post from puckalicious, I agree with everything he said. Here are the keeper rules for one league that I play in
Each team owner will be able to keep a maximum of 9 players from their roster from season to season. A maximum 7 declared keeper players (veteran's) and 2 taxi squad players (rookies). After each season teams will declare the 9 players they want.
The maximum players that can be kept at the Offensive or Defensive Positions is 6 players.
Therefore if 6 IOP are chosen, then only 3 IDP's can be chosen, vice versa and any combination in between these parameters.
Keeper Rules for another league I'm in.....almost the same, slight twist
Each team owner will be able to keep a maximum of 8 players from their roster from season to season. A maximum 6 declared Veterans, 1 2nd year player (having completed two seasons), and 1 Rookie (players having just completed their first season). After each season, teams will declare the 8 players they want.
The maximum players that can be kept at the Offensive or Defensive Positions are 5 players.
Therefore if 5 IOP (Individual Offensive Players) are chosen, then only 3 IDP's (Individual Defensive Players) can be chosen, vice versa and any combination in between these parameters.
The 6 teams who qualify for the playoffs are allowed to keep a maximum of 7 players only. These teams must choose 1 less IOP (Individual Offensive Player).
