Dynasty LB stashes for crappy teams (1 Viewer)

Tick

Footballguy
I have some crappy teams. Who should I stash in search of 80%+ snap guys?

Let's say guys below 70 on this list to try to find available players on waiver wires:
https://www.footballguys.com/rankings/duration/dynasty?pos=lb (link doesn't contain the filters, but I filtered out rankings older than 30 days).

Here's the list I come up with:
  • 74. Cole Holcomb. I don't think this is likely, but there's an argument that he'll be a full time player when he's back from injury.
  • 76. Drew Sanders*. Might be converted to DE, but after Singleton these guy stink.
  • 80. Troy Reeder. Who knows, Rams are weird. Could be 100% or cut.
  • 83. Tyrice Knight*. Looks likely, but also so far is only an 80% guy.
  • 89. SirVocea Dennis. The inspiration for this - I think he's a good candidate for 100% if L.David retires.
  • 110. Matt Milano. Back from injury.
  • 124. DeMarvion Overshown*. WTF?
  • 129. Jordan Magee. Wagner's old and bouncing around, we don't know that Magee is bad yet... seems unlikely but possible.
  • 136. Christian Rozeboom*. Why not, he's a Ram and currently has the role.
  • 142. Grant Stuard. Speed's a UFA. He was behind Carlies but could have passed him when he got snaps.
  • 149. Mack Wilson*. Weak LBs, Kyzir is a UFA.
  • UR. Jaylon Carlies. Was 3rd when injured, Speed's a UFA.
  • UR. Owen Pappoe. Kyzir UFA, maybe he passes Wilson.
Who did I miss?

* = not available in any of my leagues.

@Sigmund Bloom There seems to be some kind of database problem with DeMarvion Overshown - he's getting skipped in dynasty rankings.

I'll add Cedric Gray, Anfernee Orji, and Darius Muasau. Carlies and Diabate are my favorite long shots you mentioned. Dennis and Milano among those with better odds.

Orji: Good call with Demario Davis's age and Gay a UFA.
Muasau: I don't see his path - Okereke's uncuttable, McFadden's young and inexpensive and fills the second role.
Gray: Murray looks like a cut candidate, Gibbens is only an RFA so likely back, Baker's a UFA - good call. I have him on a roster and forgot about him.

Dee Winters isn't a bad speculative grab for 2025. Greenlaw is an UDFA as is Campbell. Would think they'd keep the next man up in house and cheap if possible.
I didn't realize Greenlaw was a UDFA - good catch.

With Queen and P Wilson in Pittsburgh, and Elandon Roberts too, I dont see Holcomb getting much run there next year, will probably get cut to save a bit of money, but maybe if his knee is back to good, he can latch on somewhere, or be LB4 in Pittsburgh.

Is Wallace in CAR considerable for this list, or no longer a "stash"?

So with Overshown possibly out until 2026 with ACL, MCL, and PCL injury, is he worth keeping him?

Hard to say - assume he'll be on PUP/IR for most of next season, so your league's IR settings make a big difference in the answer. The most important question is whether he recovers fully and is effective again.

I dropped everywhere at final offseason cuts (because I'm dumb) except for one league where he was on a taxi squad. In that league, we only have 2 IR slots and despite it being a 16-team league where we start 2-4 LBs, I'm sure I'm going to have to drop him before he comes back.

Boy, watch your waiver wires for guys on IR - I've picked up Mosley, Bentley, and Reeder (2x) in the past week. Who knows what next year holds for any of them, but I'll hold this offseason to see.

My trigger finger wants to cut Mosley but I didnt pull it yet. He just seems to be always broken and now a mysterious neck injury. I think I am going to hold until camp though and see if he is back or if Jets make a move at LB

Yeah, a total question mark. At this age, he feels like he could just disappear like some other recent LB1s.

Shaq Thompson goes on that list too - he could have been dropped and could find a spot next year, though I think his contract voids in the spring.

As mentioned in the Titans thread, on just 35 snaps Cedric Gray net 9 solos and 6 assists.

Carlies was a full timer, Stuard just saw 16 snaps, I assume those were base package assignments. Even if Speed is back, I wonder if a changing of the guard is on tap.

Muasau was also an unexpected full timer. May have been on his way towards a 100%er anyway, but McFadden's injury sealed it.

I wonder what SF will do now that they've been eliminated. Winters saw a bump to 76% last week while Greenlaw (UFA) only saw 4 snaps.

Also something called Jacoby Windmon net 4 solo 4 ast 1 sack 1 pd on 53 snaps. Not a starting consideration for me, but I may try to find stash space for him.

Greenlaw got injured (again) - opposite leg from what I heard on Red Zone.

I'm looking at Bellefeuil's rankings from yesterday. I lose perspective sometimes - I'm not in any of those crazy 32-team leagues where Divine Deablo and Isaiah McDuffie are valuable because they score some points - all of my leagues are set up to emphasize shooting for upside with 36-64 LBs started each week... I just can't be rostering guys I'll never start like Malcolm Rodriguez or David Long over guys like SirVocea Dennis and Jaylon Carlies. The unproven guys won't all hit, but the proven duds have shown us they won't hit.

Anyway... can someone sell me on Ty'Ron Hopper? Seems like he's blocked to me.

Same for Jeremiah Trotter Jr.

Ty'Ron Harper
Right now he is LB 5 in GB. Cooper is a stud, but is not even getting 100% of the snaps. It would take injuries to 2 of the starters or for someone to leave the team next year for Harper to get playing time. He is a long term play only for teams with Taxi Squad positions. That said, his small size is not an asset with the league moving more towards running the ball this year.

Guys i have stashed below. Some i see a clear path, some not so much but I’m biased toward holding them for now.
Tyrel Dodson - very disappointed how this year went but i think he’s much better than Walker if he stays with Miami and last week showed he can put up points.
Luke Gifford - produces when he plays. @Bri - what’s your take on his future?
Christian Harris - injury killed him this year but next year should be much better
Matt Milano - ditto
Grant Stuard and Carlies - have them both. Talked about above
Curtis Jacobs - IR hold and NEP LBs are not great
Malik Harrison - showed flashes. Hope he gets a chance somewhere else - UFA
Jack Sanborn - same as Harrison but he’s an RFA

Happy to hear thoughts, agreements or criticisms.

I have Carlies ahead of Stuard. The Colts seem to favor him as far as play time when both were healthy. Both are good stashes as I believe Speed is a FA so there should be an opening.

Christian Harris - injury killed him this year but next year should be much better
He looked really good the last couple weeks as far as the eye test goes for me. Seemed to be around the ball a lot. Definitely on my list to kick the tires on if an owner is looking to move him.

Bellefeuil said on the FBG discord that Okereke has an out in his contract this offseason. I can't figure that stuff out - they've already restructured him twice and it's just confusing. That would make Muasau much more likely to get a role.

What about Carolina rookie Jacoby Windmon ?
He came out of no where to post good numbers the last two weeks .
Also, Carolina LB Chandler Wooten put up great numbers last week.
Do either of these have a chance to start next year ?

I would guess not if Jewell and Wallace are both healthy. The Car LB's put up solid numbers all year for whoever was getting the snaps. Not a bad dart throw just in case and see who is left standing.

The Titans are absurdly deep at ILB and should have traded some away.
Gifford was on their PS and probably goes back to it next year or plays elsewhere.
He's 28 or 29 and slowish.
Unfortunately, the second he loses a step he'll be done in the league and his age reminds ya of that.
I'd put the rookies and Gibbens and Campbell well above him
Vrabel loves the slowish intelligent backers because they probably remind him of him. I wouldn't be one bit surprised if he trades for one on his new team. ILB market is awful, Titans have depth, wouldn't take much.
Maybe Gifford joins Vrabel's.

I wouldn't roll the dice on him if I were you

Sorry, must've gotten distracted and forgotten to get back to this. Yes, he has an out, but it's still not friendly for cap purposes. His cap # if on the team is $14.5 each of the next 2 years. If they cut him this year then they're still responsible for $10.9 in dead cap. They could designate him post June 1 and split it between 2 years, but that's not a lot of savings. Given their current situation, I only see them doing that if they really believe Muasau is the same or better, or they break the bank on a vet QB, eating their cap. If that comes to pass, then pencil Mausau and McFadden in as starters then find vet's near the minimum to backup and consider another mid-rounder with McFadden expiring after '25.

I can't say I've watched a single down of the Giants this year, so I won't comment on how good Okereke still is and Muasau could be. Would love feedback from someone if they have it though. The situation was just one in which I saw a path that made him worth a late season flier.

Windmon is probably a '26 play. Turned heads in his cameo and interesting back story, but no $ reason for Carolina to pivot off Jewell now. If that's the type that can survive spring cutdown then stash now. Otherwise, don't bother then circle back around when back-filling before next season. I stashed him where I had a 2 year taxi spot, so I can wait. Passed elsewhere.
