Dynasty Leaguers RE: Michael Bush (1 Viewer)

This could throw a wrench into any sleeper value

Some members of the Raiders organization believe that Michael Bush will eventually be placed on injured reserve.

It may take some time, but it doesn't sound like Bush is anywhere close to practicing. Staying on the PUP list to start the year looks like a near-certainty. We wouldn't use a draft pick in any non-keeper format on Bush currently.

Anyone counting on him to have any real fantasy value this season was reaching. Next year, sure, he'll be a prime breakout candidate.

Big risk.

I would look at him at the end of my dynasty roster,

but I believe this injury thing will follow him around

throughout his career.

Possibly, although the team could easily go in another direction next year (high draft pick, Michael Turner, etc). Bush was only a 4th round pick and while he has potential, it's not like there's a huge investment in him.

I figured Oakland might do this especially if they dont cut Rhodes. This is a roster space issue more than an injury issue. Rhodes looks decent and Jordan has been hampered so I think Rhodes sticks around. They have too many RBs right now. Putting the rookie on IR allows them to keep more veterans. Next year or the year after they might decide to cut Jordan or Rhodes and Bush could then compete for the starting job.

Like I mentioned on another thread this team is rebuilding the future around Russell and not in a hurry to rush a rookie RB into playing time. Bush needs to learn pass protection and Russell isnt even signed yet. They drafted Bush because he was a steal at the top of round 4, not because they need him. This has no real effect on his dynasty worth. Only on its perception.

I hope he can play special teams, because if not, he will be fighting for a roster spot as the # 2 running back next season.

I am amazed at how much hype Bush has been getting. Even taking away his injury that will cause a 2 year layoff from football (last year and this year), his skills do not translate well to the pros.

This is not really a surprise and doesn't change his dynasty value IMO.
:useless: The Michael Bush Experience has always had an ETA of 2008.
I agree. I just get really nervous when an RB in the NFL gets "Redshirted" in his rookie year. (Can you get "redshirted" your third year?)
I look at the situation as a better version of McGahee's. It comes down to if you think Bush can be a productive NFL back, which I do.

Not sure I understand your question.

Who are you expecting to be the starter next year?

AS of right now? Hard to say, if they have another really bad year, they could go running back in the 1st round, or bring in a free agent.

Has cutting Rhodes even been discussed as an option :goodposting:

Prior to his broken leg, Bush was considered a 1st, or second rounder. Provided his leg is better next season (remember that this is a bone injury, not ligament etc), the Raiders have a first round talent at a fourth round price tag. The Raiders D is young and good and Bush's size combined with the downfield WR threats and Russell's arm go together quite well.

I just got him at 3.07 in my rookie dynasty draft. I WAS holding on to JJ Arrington but decided the higher risk/reward was in Bush... and I'm a Raider Fan. Wasn't planning much production out of him this year. My other RBs are E.James, M. Jones-Drew & M. Turner. Hoping that 08 is better to me as far as Turner and Bush go. We'll see....

Who was ranking him a fist rounder? And how is Bush's size going to help him in the NFL? His skills do not translate well to the pros at all. He had a similar career as TJ Duckett and actually runs with less power than TJ Duckett did at MSU. Every defender is big and fast in the NFL. Size alone will get you absolutely nothing. He has stiff hips, and actually gets tackled surprising easily for a guy that big.

He went around 1.08 in a lot of rookie drafts that I saw.

I either drafted 1.03 or 1.12, so I didn't have the choice of picking him.

Of course, getting Irons at 1.12 kinda feels the same way.
